Thank you for acknowledging the underrated awesomeness of the Philly food scene. I think it’s the best in the country. And every spot you went to was in the top tier. So many guides tell ppl to go to reading terminal, etc, lol. They have no clue what they are missing. Here are a few south Philly spots to try on your next visit: -Fiorella (and vetri) -Angelos (if you haven’t already on your cheesesteak run) -Messina social club (need a membership, easy to get, they probably won’t let you film inside though, but the food is amazing, especially the Messina salad) -el chingon -Gabriella’s Vietnam (for the catfish hot pot, only in winter, truly amazing flavor) -pho 75 (no frills, delicious pho, go for lunch) -fountain porter (burger and fries) -mikes BBQ (brisket sandwich, ribs, wings) -taste of punjab (best Indian in the city as far as I can tell) -machine shop (pastries) in the Bok Building If you come in the summer you can’t get the hot pot at Gabrielle’s but you can check out Bok Bar for an awesome sunset experience. And if you like tomatoes, go to machine shop first thing in the morning during tomato season (late summer) to have the best tomato danish you’ll probably ever eat. Lots of other places in the vicinity that are also great, but these are my favorites. I’m sure I’m forgetting some. Also a place called Picnic just opened up in fishtown that is pretty good. Lots of cool stuff around there, but you already know that.

Great list of spots! If you go back to 4th St for the sandwich, be sure to also get an order of their corned beef hash. I’m not exaggerating when I tell you they give you a MOUNTAIN of it, and it’s absolutely delicious. You’ll have enough leftovers to reheat at home for a couple of breakfasts as well. Just a cast iron pan and you crack some eggs into it and it’s two, even three extra meals

I have a completely unexpected and underrated recommendation... Giovanni's & Sons Pizzeria in Royersford, Pennsylvania. It's in Montgomery County, about a 40 minute drive from Philly. It's an old Post Office. I loved the building and the experience. I highly recommend their Handcrafted/Artisan Pizza called The Lombardo, Chicken Riggies (a Rigatoni pasta dish native to Utica, NY) make sure to get the kicked up version ( with Black Olives and Mushrooms), Utica Rabe (Their take on Utica Greens. Instead of using Escarole they use Broccoli Rabe), and a Hanks Natural to wash it all down (Philly brand soda that came out with a Naturals line). The owner John is passionate about food and such a nice guy!

Jeremy, love how you have come to check out the Philly food. A lot of high end places i have not even been to! Here are a couple hidden gems i have for you. In south philly there is a small shop called "Artisan Boulanger Patissier." The croissant sanwiches are out of this world. Cash only and go on early side. Then all the way over in Northeast Philadelphia there is the Dutch Country Farmers market, they have insane rotisserie chicken wings and other great items. Plus one of my favorite sushi places called To-Kai is over there. Maybe not your forte for reviews, but as a foodie i know you will appreciate them. Ps the smash burger at middle child is one of the best.

You can see a top quality professional food reviewer from a million miles above the mundane self-appointed wannabes out there. Makes me realize how much crap I consume on media and the time I've wasted. Subscribed. Hope I learned going forward.
