Please show shots of the fish you catch up close to help us id the species. Maybe put some vid's out on how to read the water. I watched some guys huckin their rigs way out and not catching anything...I started casting into a trough about 30' from me and caught 2 pompano and a whiting. It's not about how far out you can cast....

I really enjoy your fish catching videos. Those Penn Pursuits are amazing, just keep the drag washers oiled; I also had to sand the spool shaft down a little on two of mine. I targeted sharks one time to do a black tip catch and cook, after I'd caught three the day before and released them, of course I got skunked.

I take a number 6 red hook and tie a little tinsel on it to make it a tinsel fly, and run it about 6 inches behind a bucktail jig or behind a spoon. It catches lots of ladyfish and pompano.. We usually find whitting with the pomp.

Hey man I’m coming down to Fort Morgan for the Fourth of July and plan to fish the whole time. If you have any tips on catching pompano and redfish I’d love to hear your insight about fishing down there this time of year, because I want to be eating fresh fish all week on my vacation. Thanks man! Edited: Oh I also have kayaks and want to know if it’s worth bringing them down? Like can I catch anything edible a realistic distance out from the shore?

Caught a giant red about 41 lbs right off the shore at The Beach Club in ft Morgan this time last year. Medium heavy rod, 30# braid at least 350 yards. If you hook into one big enough, he’s can spool you in a heartbeat. That was the biggest red I’ve ever caught and I thought it was a black tip when i first hooked up and he took his first run. For tackle i was using a 2 ft steel leader and i believe it was a 12/0 circle. Rig it up as a fish finder rig so when you get picked up the fish won’t spit it with the extra weight on it. For bait i just put on a fresh cut bluefish head from fishing earlier that day. Try for some specks while you’re there too, other than pomps, they’re prolly the best eating you can find in the surf. Fresh peeled shrimp or small live croakers if you can find them are good for the specks. Tight lines.

When we started vacationing Gulf Shores, I really wanted to catch a shark. I asked around the bait shops , Hooked Up and L&M about what to use and where to go. They said if you're fishing Gulf Shores just don't try it, I could be fined. L&M said to go to Dixie Bar, the point at Fort Morgan. After watching Brant's videos I'll go to Pensacola Bay to do my shark fishing. Selling our Pontoon and buying a bay boat to bring with us.

The exact reason I fish after midnight. I don't care so much about the tides. It's about the peace and quiet and the noise of the ocean only. Plus the incredible night sky at the ocean. When the people start coming in the morning I head home. Nothing against people but to me fishing is my escape.

bleed, soak, hang.. cut through the gills and girdle the tail to the 'bone'.. soak in saltwater for at least an hour.. hang in your shower or yard when you get home for at least another hour.. keep on ice during transport and in between steps.. then steak it out down to the end of the ribs and fillet the tail.. ice and salt that..

Shark can be purchased in the meat section of many grocery stores, even in the midwest. I used to live in Kansas City and some of the grocers up there had blacktip shark from time to time. It's important to bleed a shark if you're going to keep it to eat. Most guys make a couple of cuts in the tail to allow them to bleed out and then put them on ice until you can get home to cook them.

fish for something other than sharks. Give it a restWikipedia. It is estimated that 100 million sharks are killed by people every year, due to commercial and recreational fishing.[106][107] Shark finning yields are estimated at 1.44 million metric tons for 2000, and 1.41 million tons for 2010. Based on an analysis of average shark weights, this translates into a total annual mortality estimate of about 100 million sharks in 2000, and about 97 million sharks in 2010, with a total range of possible values between 63 and 273 million sharks per year.[108][109] Sharks are a common seafood in many places, including Japan and Australia. In the Australian state of Victoria, shark is the most commonly used fish in fish and chips,[citation needed] in which fillets are battered and deep-fried or crumbed and grilled. In fish and chip shops, shark is called flake. In India, small sharks or baby sharks (

Sharks over 4' long start accumulating too much mercury. Only eat smaller ones. Fillet them, remove as much bloody meat as possible, then marinate them in any kind of milk for 24 hrs. Cook thoroughly or you will smell uric acid. Sharks urine passes thru the meat and exits thru the skin. That is why you fillet them w/o skin. The meat has uric acid, thus the marination required. All sharks are edible.

@@carrolandre304 What a tool. Can't even put it in your own thoughts and words, you just copy and paste which has nothing to do with the US, and sadly the majority of shark finning takes places by Asian peoples. Australia dictates that fins must be attached so the entire shark is consumed. Bluntly, saving sharks doesn't mean letting them all live. We're still learning about them daily, yearly. For years we thought that only sharks in captivity had spinal curvature issues (whether it be nutritional deficiency, harm from transport etc) come to find out they caught a shark (Literally on TV, The Aquarium) that was more curved than any they'd seen in captivity. News flash; that *doesn't need to have the opportunity to be passed on!* Nature has no room for pansies, do you think these animals worry about this? Or if a sharks gonna bite you while you're swimming, he's probably like "nah man Wikipedia said!"
