springheeled jack is my favourite strange story/cryptid. it's just so god damn bizzare. the most likely story is this is a rich dude who dressed up like a devil and parkoured across london pulling what he most likely saw as "pranks" and honestly, if thats the most realistic story, its still one hell of a story. I really hope this story catches more people's imagination. Springheeled jack deserves to be widely known along with big foot and moth man.
@samhirst28302 жыл бұрын
I have no idea who or what it was. Alot of the eyewitness accounts stated that it was 7 feet tall, towering over people and many stated that it could leap on to the roofs of 3 story townhouses. The only two things that I can think of is that opium was really popular back then and that newspapers would pay people for interviews in a time where alot of people suffered from living in abject poverty so some of them may have intentionally made up stories to gain money in times of desperation.
@astrowolvez2 жыл бұрын
Considering women were raped I don’t know if prank is the right wording. But could be a rich person who wanted to do crime and praying on poor women no one would really care. Or so he thought.
@artemiswallace87162 жыл бұрын
@@astrowolvez it was never explicit when it comes to jack, thats only a theory added on later. and if that theory holds true, jack was never involved witht hose actions, he was used as a way to explain the trauma.

2:25 Business owners were not considered upper class in Victorian England, not unless they had an upper class background. A rich businessman would be seen as middle class (or even working class) no matter how rich he was. The true upper class was the landed gentry and the aristocracy. This only began to change in the 1980s.

One of the Spring-Heeled Jack Penny Dreadfuls from 1899. Is called The Human Bat. There's a lot of things similar to Batman. But no real proof that Bob Kane ever read it. But the list of things he stole & plagiarized over the years is staggering. Apparently there's a Spring-heeled Jack story that takes place in the old west. I'll have to track that one down.
