I totally agree. Makes it also possible for many people to start a vlogging career if they want to, since filming on iphones is actually not that bad. But indeed, buying new equipment/ "better equipment" is always a goal artistically speaking. A lot of people do hybrid vlogging too ( switching between iphones and cameras)

your videos feel like a time capsule, like you've somehow preserved small moments of time in such a beautiful way that makes me so aware of the richness and impermanent nature of life. maybe it's the music but they're so peaceful in a nostalgic, melancholic way. really reminds me of the vibe from 'life is strange' video games

I get the Life Is Strange feel too! Both Lauren's vlogs and those games make me feel really mindful and present.

i love devocion for a latte, lunetta has amazing vodka pizza, tompkins square bagels, le fournil for pastries, ralph's italian ice is so good for a hot day, joyface if you feel like dancing, maiden lane has some good drinks, poster house, a museum dedicated to posters and i like mcnally jackson for books more than the strand bc of the way the strand's owner handled 2020 :)

I live in NYC. Trendy but amazing spots: Coffee: La Cabra (Soho and East Village), Sey (Bushwick), Dayglow (Bushwick) Matcha: Kettl (Greenpoint), Sorate (Soho) Eats: Cervo’s (LES, amazing amazing seafood. Recommend getting on a waitlist now), Dame (similar to cervos, amazing, also get on a waitlist now) ***anywhere buzzy is going to require waitlist or looking for a resy right around now. Reveli (really cute luncheonette in soho) Lucia Pizza on canal. Favorite slice right now. Tacos: Los Tacos/ Los Mariscos, Taqueria Ramirez, Esse Taco(super new, from the Pujol team), Los Hermanos (on starr st), there’s so many spots Galleries: Lots of stuff to look into in Chelsea (West 18th-25th ish). Whitney Museum is also nearby. Have so much fun!!!! :)

i spent a few months in nyc last year and my favorite spots were: FOR FOOD: absolute bagels (upper west side) and super taste (chinatown). both incredibly affordable and INSANELY tasty!! FOR BOOKS: strand (a classic), out of the closet (in brooklyn next to atlantic terminal. they’re a thrift store and all the profit goes to providing free HIV testing, the books are really affordable and the selection is usually great! also there’s a salvation army a couple of blocks away with more books for a great price), books are magic, community bookstore, unnameable books, and a little unrelated but i LOVE the NYPL gift shop. also, for reading outside, i highly prefer prospect park over central park. much less crowded, a lot less touristy, much more family-friendly! when i was there, i put on my bikini, brought a beach towel and would spend lazy afternoons sunbathing and reading without anyone bothering me. brooklyn bridge park pier 6 is also a great place to read, especially around sunset. the view is mesmerizing, it’s a great place to have a picnic or just to vibe. FOR ENTERTAINMENT: i think the met is a must for everyone who goes to nyc, but the museum of moving image is HIGHLY underrated. if you’re into cinema, check out analogfilmnyc.org when assembling a schedule to see which films will be screening while you’re there. i was lucky enough to watch 2001: a space odyssey in 70mm at an empty theater and it was truly life changing. you can also check @nycrhps on instagram to see if there will be a screening of rocky horror picture show with a shadow cast while you’re there, they’re incredible. if you want to people watch, washington square park is THE PLACE to do it. not only is that the area where i spotted a couple of famous people, but everyone there is WILD. there are artists, musicians, groups of friends, vendors, and the scariest people i’ve ever encountered, so be careful. but like, on pride there was a guy with a pet snake there and everyone jumped on the water fountain to deal with the heat. if you want to be surprised, go to wash. if you want to buy those classics new york souvenirs, DONT DO IT IN TIMES SQUARE!! everything is three times the price!! buy them near penn station, or if you’re lucky you can find keychains/bottle openers for insanely cheap near south ferry.

If you stay in Chelsea, or just visit that area, stop in the Chelsea market and go to the stand for Seed + Mill, which is a tahini and halva shop. You can get tahini-drizzled ice cream at it is so glorious!! The halva is also delicious and STUNNING, looks like big fluffy, fancy cartoon cakes. They will cut pieces off so you can try a ton of flavors. Sweet but not too sweet. Perfection.

For NYC, I enjoyed Variety Coffee Roasters, but what I found myself going back to was Maman, it’s a French bakery cafe with tons of locations. Their seasonal drinks were amazing. Washington Square Park is fun for people watching, and Strand Bookstore is a must. Enjoy a late dinner literally anywhere on St Mark’s Pl in the East Village. Have fun!

omg, I live in new york! east village books is great. the strand is probably the most popular though. I’d recommend the lower east side for little shops, galleries, and coffee as well. chelsea has the bigger more commercial galleries. if you end up in brooklyn, unnameable books is great and the cotton bean has the best matcha in the city imo. have so much fun ❤️

new york bookstore recommendations are spoonbill and sugartown books in williamsburg, three lives and company in greenwich village, books are magic in cobble hill, a good indie chain is mcnally jackson (especially the seaport location which has a coffee shop inside) and they also have a stationary shop called goods for the study, molasses books, human relations, book row, all three of which are in bushwick, dear friend books, the word is change, and playground annex, all three of which are in bed-stuy. hope you have a fun trip!

Albertine is the prettiest bookstore - it's on the Upper East near The Met. Spoonbill & Sugartown Books in Williamsburg has the best curation - lots of poetry and art books as well. For second hand books, The Strand is always there for you, but my favorite used shop is Unnameable Books in Prospect Heights (they're also open late, which is great - love going to Weather Up down the street for a cocktail and then book shopping - nothing better!). Stella Dallas (Williamsburg) is great for curated thrifting. L Train vintage (multiple locations) for a less expensive thrifting experience that's also well organized. Via Carota doesn't take reservations but if you get there right when they open you can easily get a spot - sit at the bar and order their greens salad. You have to have a bagel, of course, but we'll all claim our local spot is the best one (mine is Olde Brooklyn Bagel Shoppe - it's incredible!) but almost all of them are great! If you do stay at the Chelsea Hotel, the Chelsea Cafe is right there and is so darling and tasty. 787 or Sey for coffee!

New York Recommendations! My favorite coffees are Partners in the West Village and La Cabra (they also have amazing pastries and sourdough) in the East Village. Best slice is L'Industrie (in Brooklyn or West Village). Fun bookstores to check out are the McNally Jackson near the Tin Building and Three Lives bookstore. If you're looking for an amazing, slightly fancy dinner out, Wildair in the Lower East Side is phenomenal. Also if you make out to Brooklyn, Salter House is the sweetest store. Hope you have the loveliest time in New York!

John’s on 12th Street for the most classic NYC Italian experience. Waiters are dressed all fancy, and they have a huge wax candle in the back that’s over 100 years old! Cafe Reggio in the West Village is also a cool place for literary history. They have their original espresso machine (they also serve giant lattes!) Stella Dallas in Williamsburg has the most stunninggggg vintage pieces and Quimby’s is a cute book/zine store right around the corner… The list is so long 😂

I think you would loooooove greenpoint in brooklyn when you come to new york! check out feng sway and all the great vintage shops around there :) also a great plant store called Tula thats super cute. Theres some amazing bookstores in brooklyn like books are magic, spoonbill and sugartown, center for nonfiction, and greenlight to name a few! And then in manhattan sweet pickle books is one of a kind. Win Son has been one of my go to restaurants lately (great bakery across the street) and rolos in ridgewood is fantastic. I could go on and on about bars since it really depends on the vibe but I've been going to maracuja a lot (bunch of great bars around there too) and beauty bar by union square. Oh I would also check out friends nyc in bushwick for lots of fun gift things-- some great stores and bars around there too :)

Some favorite restaurants by neighborhood: Joseph Leonard, Buvette, Via Carota (West Village); June Wine Bar and Ruthie Wine Bar (Cobble/Boerum Hill); Winner and Bar Vinazo (Park Slope); and Faun, Lalou, and Leland (Prospect Heights). Court Street Grocers is also an amazing sandwich shop in Carroll Gardens. And Riverside Park on the UWS is my favorite park :)) If you can see Illinoise on Broadway, you must go!!!!! McNally Jackson is probably the best new bookstore in NYC-they have locations in soho and seaport (and I think by Rockefeller center too?) and a couple in Brooklyn-Williamsburg and downtown bk. My favorite used bookstores are Topos in Ridgewood and Molasses in Bushwick. Spoonbill and Sugartown in Williamsburg and Book Club Bar in the east village are also great. Champers Social Club in SoHo is pricy but super cute and has good food and drinks. If you like southern food Pies n Thighs in Williamsburg is good. Cafe wise I personally love the lost draft in soho, rhythm zero in greenpoint, honeymoon coffee shop in Ridgewood, the Maman location in greenpoint, headrest coffee in bushwick.
