i always quantize my hats 1/16 with 55-65 swing and late 1-3 and then use that as my metronome and play my kicks n snares with no quantize then decide if i erase the quantized hats and record in non quantized or leave it be

Nope you have to sample everything in yourself. Mine came with some factory floppy discs as I mentioned in this video which are nice for drum sounds

Anyone have an archive of all the sounds that came with MPC on the floppies? The MPC is pretty old, so I'd imagine someone's uploaded them before.

Is there a global “quantize on” feature? That way I can add the swing after? And is there a way to globally swing all tracks, rather then going into percent value for each track?
@spvidz4 жыл бұрын
Yeah man you can set it each time you record. I’m not at the MPC right now but if you look at the top middle of the screen (I think) you should see something like ‘1/16’ highlight that and you can change how you want to quantize
@Mnr.2224 жыл бұрын
@@spvidz yea, I guess my timing just sucks. Just getting into the mpc style. So use to linear sequencing.
@spvidz4 жыл бұрын
I only usually quantize the hats, kinda depends what feel you want in the beat though, loose or tight!

Yo cool vid, i would point out some tips to help you moving faster. Why not use the "play from start" button? I see you using locate button or even changing the location manually from the screen.. Simply press play start, i think i have never used the other "play" button :D also when u rec hats you change from 16 to 8quantinize,its not necessary you can rec them at 16 also, you would have to hit reaaally sloppy to miss them :D keep rockin!
@spvidz4 жыл бұрын
Yo man thanks for those tips! I think someone else mentioned about the button yeah I need to remember to do that 🤣
@luckyy17003 жыл бұрын
can I quantize certain tracks or can I only turn on quantization for every track
@spvidz3 жыл бұрын
To my knowledge, You turn on quantize as you record, so for example, I usually have it on when I record the hats, and then turn it off again for the kicks and snares. I record each drum on separate tracks too.
@pharcyde5224 жыл бұрын
How much did you get it for ?

I think I paid about £560 if I remember correctly which obviously isn’t cheap but it was worth it for the condition it’s in

My mpc seems to not keep the timing from the previous track when im on my second track and im doing the timing for my kick for example. Its on the timing setting that ive just did on second track and what ive done one the previous track is at the same setting that ive just did for the second track lol its annoying.
@spvidz3 жыл бұрын
Thats really random man! Are you using quantise? Also check the tempo doesn't change when you change track maybe. Tough to help with that one really
@TonyMell8193 жыл бұрын
@@spvidz Everything is quantise at 1/16 except my kicks i turned it off and everything is at the same tempo. Like are u supposed to see the specific timing setting of each track change when u are scrolling trough tracks? cuz if yes mine is not doing it. ex first track its my snare at 1/16 and ive shifted it to 4 earlier and press the snare pad to assign it to only this pad and rec it, then i go to second track laying down my kick, turn off quantise and assign it to only my kick pad, rec it then go back to first track and the timing of the snare is unquantised too even tho ive pressed specificly this pad first
@spvidz3 жыл бұрын
I've no idea with that one sorry man. I was going to suggest different tracks but sounds like you are already doing that. I have a track for each drum sound and set the quantise accordingly before I record. It shouldn't affect the other tracks :/
@gigabytekilla3 жыл бұрын
Quantize just means snaps to the nearest 1/16 grid or whatever step you choose.
