Got one a couple days ago. Just noticed one side is a redder brown and the other a more chocolate brown with a slightly tighter weave pattern. I'm ok with that, makes it more interesting. Took a couple hours to break it in and it's getting smoother everyday; really impressed with the workmanship and tolerances. Perfect centering and the factory edge is so nice that I almost don't want to cut anything, but I got it to be a user. Was worried it'll be too big compared to my Para 3 LW I'd been edc'ing but its fine. Now I want to add a LW in either SPY 27 or Magnacut... Christmas perhaps? Wonder if Spyderco will ever come out with a PM2 LW?...that would be a must have.
@TriedandTrueEDC5 ай бұрын
@@chrishynes6091 Congrats! 🙌🏼. Interesting about the different shades on the Micarta, but I’m sure it’ll patina nicely over time. Mine came with drop shut action, but off centered lol. I’ve realized this much real estate the Spydie hump takes up in the pocket, even on the Para 3 lol. I thought I read about how they were coming out with a PM2 LW, but maybe that was surrounding speculations on what the Magnacut version was going to be. Lol, yes, a Magnacut LW Manix 2 would certainly make a great Xmas gift 😬. I replaced mine with a lynch clip and like it a lot more.

@TriedandTrueEDC6 ай бұрын
🙌🏼 congrats on your first Manix 2! What a great one to start with. From my experience, it hasn’t softened up if you get one that has a strong spring. If you’re comfortable tinkering with it, I’ve read you could clip portions of the coil off to lighten the spring tension. I would first try and see if it lightens up with a few weeks of opening/closing.
@Spthomas475 ай бұрын
Can't tell if mine lightened up or I just built muscle memory for the tension. It's been my primary at work(service technician) since it came in a week or so ago and the scales are getting a nice, rich patina.

@TriedandTrueEDC4 ай бұрын
I’ve handled a least a dozen Manix 2’s and I’d say that the spring strength varies just a tad from unit to unit. I would also say that it gets easier the more it is used as the spring will loosen up a bit over time. An alternative is to get a softer spring from the secondary market or even remove up to a coil from your current spring (I’m not recommending this as I’ve not tried it but have read it’s an option). Do you have other Manix 2’s to compare this one to?
@StoneHands256 ай бұрын
Are we going to be able to do scale swaps on this version? Just wasn't sure cuz I know with the PM2 and the military are full liners and I wasn't sure if the Micarta was thicker on this version. Thanks!
@TriedandTrueEDC6 ай бұрын
Great question! I’ll double check some other models I have but I’m fairly confident the liners are still the same size so thicker micarta scales shouldn’t affect use of aftermarket scales
@TriedandTrueEDC6 ай бұрын
I just looked at my other Manix 2’s and the liner thickness looks to be exactly the same thickness as the Crucarta version. Also, the micarta thickness matches the G10 thicknesses on my other models.
