Love the Native series. Have many lightweights and a couple g10 and the c/f s90v. Some chiefs and a couple Shamans. Great knives. I think the only lw Native’s I don’t have is the s35vn and LC200N and 4v. Good review bud 👋

Heck yeah . Got one of these from the last spydie sale . I wish I snagged a manix 2 now . The edge is still going so I’m already impressed . I like to use the factory edge then lay down one of my own as soon as possible but I have to say , Spyderco has always delivered a great edge . TRM too had a really memorable edge . So after a couple days of using it’s possible to flick both ways but the slow roll is where it’s at on this model . Maybe the AWT scales will make it more like the delica 4 with the added washers . There’s no washers in the lightweight , like you stated , but yet the blade spins nicely on pivot and lock .

Exactly. Conversion to washers is the most interesting reason to try the AWT swap here. I’m sure the action with the new scales will be smooth as buttah.

After some break-in and a bit of teflon-based lubricant I have no issues with the action of a standard FRN Native 5.

A bit of lube can really smooth out some of these backlocks, though they get there eventually with break-in. I like KPL, haven't tried any of the others yet. Happy to hear a recommendation if there's one you like!

So are you going to get some AWT scales . I’m about to order after this vid . They’re so good on a manix 2 so I can’t help myself .

Not quite yet, money's gonna go to other knives first. But at some point, definitely. It's super cool that they've got scales for these LW models. Honestly I really dig the "toolish" feel you get from the FRN and how light it is in the pocket on the Native in particular. On the Manix 2, on the other hand...AWT and Rockscale scales are awesome and a serious upgrade.
