I just recieved a PM2 Tanto satin blade. I got it by sheer luck. I saw it and quickly bought it. I think they rejuvenated the PM2 to the point where Spyderco can place the tanto in the regular lineup. Your observations on the tanto itself is spot on-- it's great.

Metal Complex, just from a consumer and a knife enthusiast, the tanto blade is really appealing. It has some really nice lines to the blade. I only have one other Spyderco out of the hundreds of knives I have and it is a Para 2. I will buy this as soon as I have the opportunity. It’s a winner. Don’t care about price.

That is exactly what I was thinking too, I would love for them to make the para 3 with a tanto blade, cause I love the para 3. It’s the perfect size and everything, the ergos it fits perfectly in my hand. As if it was meant to be lol. The way my fingers warp around the handle and mold together giving me a strong, secure grip. The PM2 is just a little big for my hands and I have small to medium sized hands.

Mine also has that little blemish looking area on the grind towards the tip in the exact same spot so it must be there for a reason. I love the knife but I would love to see it in M4 or Maxamet. I believe this will be a standard everywhere but bladehq just got first dibs. We need a satin finish version for sure. The grinds will look so good.

I think a mini shaman with a good steel and contoured handles and a compression lock would be almost perfect. Really wish I could get a premium lil native with contoured scales. Perfect EDC. I can only take a 2.5 " blade to work. Spyderco is really unique in that you can get a 4 finger grip on a 2.5" blade. At home, something like a shaman would be optimal. Guess I should go shopping 🤘

I got one of these but it’s stiff and can’t hardly be flipped open. My other non black blade PM2 is super smooth and can be flipped open with any finger it’s so smooth.

I have the same knife been using it for work for a bit and yes it’s not the best at cutting but damn does it look good doing it. Also, my blade does have the same cut as well and it doesn’t bother me, but I wish it was in a non coated blade in s90v or better. Take my money!

Really like mine. However the edge with white does look a little like a cheap cold steel at certain angles. It also is a little more charcoal than black dlc like my dlc Pm2 from bento. Pm3 version of course but that’s gonna be 180

I prefer the original full flat grind, but for people who want a more robust tip making the PM2 more hard use I can see it being worth while. The PM2 tip is a little fragile, I was always a bit hesitant to put too much pressure on the tip, so the tanto seems a bit more robust. Reminds me of their Japanese sabre grind models. Don't like the coating though,

Definitely will be ordering one. I love my PM2s for field and EDC pocket carry and they’ve never failed me, but I’m really hoping to get some extra longevity out of the point of the blade compared to the drop point blade. I’m always tearing up the drop point tip.

Ryan Smith that’s what I think stopped me from buying a Spyderco previously but when I watched the preview of their new blades for 2020 and saw the tanto blade at the end from bladehq I was in love and wanted one. Then came the email for this beauty and thought it was going to be in a normal finish but nope it was all black and I hated it! I really wanted a satin finish in a premium steel, but I couldn’t say no once it was available.

@@ryansmith2772 IMHO the PM2 in it's original form is shit-ugly, and I think most Spydies aren't exactly pretty (Native 5 and Chief do look cool, but size- and carrywise they're not the most appealing knives for me). But all Byrds and Spydies I've ever had all cut very well and also have great ergonomics, so maybe that's what people like about them?

Would rather have 154CM than S30V to be honest. A 3V version would be really cool or 52100. Cru-wear, CTS-XHP, or S35VN would have made it more attractive to me. However, I always respected to PM,PM2,and PM3 as well as the police model, but never felt the need to buy one. The tanto has actually made me consider buying one.

I bought one because of the aesthetic. Maybe I'm alone in my feelings about the pm2. For me, it's just not a comfortable knife in hand. The g10 is a bit rough, the thumb jimping is a bit tight, but my biggest gripe are the blocky scales. The para 3, manix, military, all have the edges knocked down to some degree. I wish they'd do it for the pm2. Squeeze it tight for any length of time and you've got indentations in your palm. After that, put a griptilian in your hand and it feels like a well worn pair of sneakers.

It still irritates me a bit that it turned out to be an exclusive. I have no personal interest in this knife, but I can see the practicality of it for military/LEO applications and think it should probably be made more widely available. I also have to disagree with the idea of going tanto on the Para 3. Just doesn’t make sense to me to do that on an EDC sized knife like that.

6:45 🤔 WE Knife would probably charge you $300 for that grind 😝 But Kizer will deliver a more complex grind to your doorstep (given a couple of weeks) for under $100 if you order through AliExpress (albeit on a dated design)😑 Still ... I was never a fan of the PM2 but I'm absolutely loving this one, and while it's a bigger knife than I'd care to carry I'll probably buy myself one at the next opportunity (satin or stonewash, no coating plz😫)

Spyderco does offer a resharpening a lot like benchmade. I don’t know if their’s is free or have a charge for it. I’m not a fan of tanto as Tanto is designed to be thrusted into items.

I got a Sprint run PM2 for $89 back when s35vn first came out. Now the PM2 in s35vn is common place. Sprint runs are a joke! But, Spydie fanboys will always jump on it. It's a beautiful blade! But, I'm not in to Murdered-out knives and/or cars. The first thing I'd do to it is replace the screws with brass or bronze and maybe, custom scales and acid wash/stone...then, it will only cost $350 haha. I'll wait.
