Same here lol. Still about the cheapest high-end folder with S45VN though. Tax and shipping was just under 200$ Blade HQ still no regrets.

bro i got a cruwear exclusive one and it came out over $200 after tax. i’ve gotten to where i ONLY buy exclusives bc they’re always cheaper than base models. like i have a green 20cv para 3 for 160, and a pink s45vn one for 150, and the BASE MODEL plain black para 3 is $175 which makes zero sense.

I got the same sprint but in the parra3, I love the way the scales look, but my pocket hated them. I upgraded to a set of copper flytanium scales. Love it. Also picked up a new pm2 in s45vn, it's the new standard steel 07/03/21

I was going to ask this so thank you. My pm2 I just bought is in s45vn, wasn't sure if that was standard or not, I've seen it in s30v too

2 years later they come standard in S45vn. I had to replace my pm 2 because I have a teenage son who lost mine 🤬 anyway..I got the same exact pm2.. camo pattern with a black coated blade. Closer to $200 these days, but came in S45VN vs my old S30V. I also noticed they blackened not only the liners but the gimping by the compression lock. Not a huge deal, but a nice touch.

I'm waiting for more performance testing with S45VN before I come to any conclusion about it. Since S35VN is good enough for me, I'm not itching to change yet. Also I miss the days of a standard PM2 going for $125 - my sprint run M390 PM2 was $150 three years ago and now that's the base price :P

I have two production versions of PM2 in S45VN. Both in black G10, one satin and one DLC coated. I also bought a Maxamet version and I still have my old S30V in digi-camo and DLC. If I didn't sell my S110V, that would have made five PM2s in my collection. Funny thing is, the PM2 is not my favorite Spyderco. It's the Shaman and I've only got one of those.

Great video! I Bought a Para 2 3 days ago. Been looking for one for a minute and just happened to get an email from Cabela’s that they had 5 in stock at a store near me. It’s about an hours ride and im lucky I paid for it in advance and had them hold it because mine was the last available when I picked it up. It’s a sprint run Para 2 fortunately, Black G-10 scales and S45VN blade.

It looks like the vanilla PM2 (black g-10, satin blade) is now in s45vn (see Spyderco's website and Blade HQ.) I'm wondering when the standard blackout model will be updated. It seems like this change has been on the DL and I've only noticed on the websites but haven't seen any advertising or videos about it.

I got my Paramilitary 2 is the mail today ...I'm not a steel snob but ive always liked S30V ... The online description of the knife i ordered was Para 2 digicam satin blade S30V ... .We' ll I looked at the blade and instead of S30V it said CPM S45VN which before today i had never heard of ..I first thought shit guess i'll send it back ,, but after looking online it seems like maybe its a little bit of an upgrade,,,,guess ill keep it ..

One in my hand richt now i like it better then the stock one,if one thing in the steel is better then s35 vn i think it has toothier carbides i found s35vn always a dificult steel to get real sharp.

This particular sprint run is sold out. Bummer. I have the PM2 with blurple G10. I like the color but hate the texture and it is shredding my pockets. I'll be in the market soon for some aftermarket scales for my PM2. Without a doubt, the PM2 has become one of my all-time favorites and so I don't mind maybe dropping some extra cash on some aftermarket scales.

Sprints don't come back. Dealer Exclusives sometimes do. I believe once other manufacturers use it more, this S45VN Pm2 and Pm3 will be more sought after. I think this one got lost in the mix of all the new Spydercos. Have a good one

I must admit I'm the only person that has over 100 knives and not one PM2. I do love my PM3. The Forest Green scales are outstanding. Love to find them after market and add them to my PM3. I'll have to look up some cut test on the S45VN and see what it's all about

Not really a PM2 fan, I’m more of a Manix 2 fan, which is the only Spyderco I own! I am however really interested in the S45VN, and I hope they use it on other models! I would also love to see other companies get ahold of the steel and use it!

Living next to the ocean, I want as much corrosion resistance as I can get and still get good usability.

LC200N is stain proof not just stain less, it also holds a very very good edge ! It is not cheap tho... the spydiechef runs $235+ .. but thatd be an awesome steel for living next to the ocean... but im partial to Titanium Frame-lock's. Vanax super clean, LC200N and H-1 will all be nearly rust proof. On a budget... Buck makes a boat anchor of a knife (7.2oz) in 20CV for like $97.95 @ DLTTrading.com, 20CV will have incredible edge holding, is very stainless and Buck has one of the best heat treatments in the business, along with an awesome Hollow Grind that is very slicey, top notch knife all the way around, with the exception of being almost half a pound... but they are very beautiful knives, especially the nickel bolsters and Rosewood on the 20CV model.... If all else fails, I always suggest Spyderco PM2's, Manix II's and (if you want something incredible) the Shaman in S30V, Benchmade 940's, Griptilian's & Bugout's (if ultralight is your thing) in S30V and the Buck 110 & 112 Slim Pro's in S30V... lots and lots of great choices for almost any budget

@matty d idk man, benchmade has sold an aweful lot of them and still do. all of these paper thin behind the edge knives are great slicers thats not arguable... i guess I was saying to a general person, not to a knife guy, you know what I mean? like a Sebenza or a Spyderco Gayle Bradley 2 is the Ferrari, and the Benchmade 940 is the Chevrolet 1500 5.3L V8 crew cab.... I'm going to reccomend the truck to everyone, and reccomend the Ferrari to only a few lol... but lets be honest we'd all rather have the Ferrari... I mean ive carried a large Inkosi Insingo for like 2 years, but still rotate knives. that plain Chris Reeve is my golden goose, but i recommend his knives to very few, if its in the budget, they dont disappoint... but there's a reason I will only ever have 1. sorry for rambling bottom line : I believe people need a collection, from sharpened prybar to atom slicer.... but i understand most people will use 1 more than anything else. so when I think of an "only knife I'll ever own" i want it bulletproof, tough and with a good warranty. benchmade warranty is the best in the game, and yes 940's are thick, with thick grinds, but S30V can be a little chippy so i want to see a little thickness for a lifetime knife, its no ColdSteel Trailmaster. I got a ColdSteel Trailmaster in 0-1 steel that measures in between 5/16" and 3/8" on the spine lol. thing is ridiculous!! what would you reccomend? i would add the ColdSteel Code-4 Clip point too that list of reccomendables ! $80, S35VN, thin behind the edge, a Tri-Ad lock and aluminum handles.

If S45VN is easier to machine and sharpen, and companies are able to replace S30V or S35VN as a base model steel without a cost increase it's a win/win for manufacturing and the end user. If it's going to be just another gimmick to sell more knives marketed as the latest, greatest thing at a higher price that will be disappointing.

@@metal_complex True to a certain extent. I think people in the knife community are aware that this isn't really a major advancement in performance though compared to other already available options. I just personally haven't seen much excitement about it. The difference with phones is that you actually lose functionality after no longer getting software updates. I think the comparison about people spending ridiculous amounts to get the newest trendy thing is accurate.

Just bought a standard pm2 in s45vn for 216 € that's a lot of money(240$)... And it might be the best price on the market... I've seen them even going for 245 € (270$) Madness... and maxamet models for 363 €
