Interestingly the founding rain is found at the "Heretical Rise" in the mountaintops. Not sure if it was heretical at the time or has been renamed, but if it was heretical even before then that could hint at a point in history were astrologers had split of between people who remaind watching the stars and those that would pursue the Primeval current. Those "heretics" would found Raya Lucaria and Selia with the Carian people being descendants of astrologers that never straided into the Primeval current.

I don’t think Azur and Lusat are dead. I believe they both found a way for their souls to survive within the glintstones that formed throughout their body. For example, they sense us when we approach and hand us their respective sorceries, Sellen states that glintstone has residual life, and crystalians live and function with no organic matter. I believe they escaped their tragic fates by becoming a form of crystalian themselves.

The only issue with this theory is that if we follow Sellens quest line, she uses the bodies of Azur & Lusat to create her graven mass, so unless they preserved their primordial glintstone somewhere, they are most likely dead after having their bodies used in Sellens experiment. She seems to be the only consciousness in her graven mass.

@square-table-gaming while I agree with the fact that they are more than likely dead when made into a graven soul mass (still entirely possible that they are alive as they did not speak before so could just be silent tortured victims in the mass) it was never selen that made them into the soul mass, the way it happens in game does not say who or what made them into a soul mass but given rannis defense and reactive tendencies to defend her mother and her desire to let her mother remain in blissful ignorance as well as the fact that selen says she got rid of renalla but we still see her in the background heavily implies these were all rannis doing. She likely used an illusion or a confusion spell that his recalls continued presence from selen then when she was preoccupied or otherwise unable ranni was likely the one that then used the opportunity to turn her and her teachers into a graven soul mass. Selen showed nothing but continued respect for azure and lusat and nothing about her actions including her restoring them to their positions in the academy would imply that she would do such a thing to them and indeed implies that she was definitely not the one who turned them into a graven mass. While it's possible that ranni did not do all this it is heavily implied in my opinion that she did as revenge for Selena attempt to remove her mother from her peaceful resting.

All of this leads me to believe that Radahn betrayed his family for the sake of the Golden order since he admired Godfrey so much and probably also was looking for answers as to why his father would've abandoned him. This of course would cause Rykard to hate the Golden order and dive into his Blasphemous ways to get revenge against the Golden order for basically "taking" his beloved brother, and ceasing Rannis fate. This would of course also cause Malenia to go after Radahn as her twin brother was essentially trying to replace the Golden order and Radahn halting the stars would've stopped his plan for the eclipse to bring back Godwyn. Idk what made me think of this in the video but it all just flooded into my brain

@Square Table Gaming I'd love to hear your thoughts on this. Lately I've been wandering about before the Erdtree when the dragons ruled. Mainly wandering about Elder Dragon Greyoll and why she is basically a vegetable. What if, during the reign of dragons, Placidusax and Greyoll were locked in combat over becoming the next ruler of the land. After all, they are both "Elder Dragons". Let's say Placidusax won that fight, nearly killing Greyoll. That would explain why she is in that vegetative state and can't move, only roar. 🤔

An older interpretation of mine.... As a turtle once said "thus the great houses of the erdtree and the moon were intertwined" (or something like that) I believed that the lands between has played host to a great struggle of power players, the greater will vs the stars/moon, the dragons vs the nox, the golden order vs the academy. Incantations vs sorceries. The introduction of the hornsent and the mother of fingers shredded this idea, due to the hornsent definitely not being connected to the greater will yet using incantations and the mother of fingers definitely being connected to the greater will and using sorcery style attacks ect. The fact the mother of all fingers is understood most by a sorcerer of all things plus what was mentioned before must mean something, that the prime evil current and the greater will, must be connected in some way, other wise how could a great mind that studies one be so in raptured by the other and still consider them self as a master of the former.... Proudly soo even.. understanding this is a key to understanding the gods. Much like how the lack of dialogue of presumably radahn's end of the dlc's ending cut scene is ment to beg a question and that question is NOT did radahn say yes or no? if that is the case we might as well have his side, his answer. Instead we must put our minds to the task of why, why not hear the other side, what does that suggest. If it is radahn and he does say yes, well that is self evident, I just fought him to the death.... As with many things in elden ring the easy answer is rarely the right one, and the obvious is well obvious and the entire game is evidence to the contrary. We are not in a world where everything fits so clearly or so cleanly but i am rambling now....

I can NEVER get enough Lore about my favorite game, Elden Ring! I got to thinking, hopefully, one day, in another DLC, or in Elden Ring 2, if powerful enough, you can create NEW Sorceries or Incantations of your own, just like those have before you! One can do something similar in Elder Scrolls, especially Oblivion, after you become Archmage of the Mage's Guild! A grander idea, a small expansion of it's own, like the Arena's got, the same could be for Raya Lucaria! Even re-open the school, where Sorcerer's from all over, can showcase their creations, even help newer Sorcerer's grow their knowledge! THAT, would be a HELL of a thing to add to Elden RIng!

Here's a crazy idea. The player is the original Astrologer, and part of the DLC has us helping Lusat and Azur establish Glinstone sorcery. Everything is up for grabs, and while I unfortunately have never played a Fromsoft DLC as Elden Ring was the first Fromsoft gane I've actually played all the way through, but since Fromsoft doesn't seem adverse to having time travel in their games, I could totally imagine us going to the past for a kind of history lesson from a character and end up helping shape history during the DLC story.

Feel free to jump in. I use info directly from the game and if I'm discussing a theory that's popular in the community I flag that before stating it. I don't think there's anything wrong with citing things talked about in interviews or translation errors that have been found, it's all worth noting to try and untangle the web that is this games lore.

As much as I love playing as a Caster in Soulsborne games, I found it quite disappointing that if you exclude the amazing spells, everything else that involves Casters is basically a copy/paste of DS3 Caster gameplay. (The worst game of the Dark Souls Trilogy when it came to Caster gameplay.) Elden Ring was the perfect chance to give Caster gameplay an overhaul and they barely made much of an attempt there.
