I'm guessing that truck was originally a 6.2, swapped over to a gas motor. You can see the lights on the dash where it would say "Glow Plugs" and "Water in Tank" for the diesel.

Usually a fork that front idler is attached to with sprong around it then grease actuated tensioner behind it. Takes some digging around to find it all a lot of times it's behind protective shields .
@yota87truck4 жыл бұрын
6:34 is he holding up that tree or is it holding him up?
@td14addict4 жыл бұрын
The spring doesn't tension the track, it is designed to absorb the shock load when the idler hits something hard, and to allow some give to the undercarriage. I would be shocked if your excavator doesn't have a spring on the idler somewhere.

With all old equipment comes good operators. Anyone can run a new one but to work with what you have and make it work is the signs that your the one responsible, taking blame when your wrong but hold your head up n tell yourself, lets not do that again. When you have a drum winch like on that dozer, running the cable out to a block and back with grab hooks to roll tracks is a good way and then using up a pass chain around the track and grabbing a pad to force it the way that you want is one I am sure that you tried many varieties of/LOL. Its always nice though to have a excavator with a good boom to get them to crawl back on. Almost all cat undercarriages are horrible to keep on their tracks if the rock guards are off or just worn out. I would buy a old lincoln welder and plenty of 6013 and 7018 rod so's the sowing is easier. Of course that is no good without a good torch. Nothing small as you can peck at it all day or get the hammer that will drive it home as the expression goes. I did this stuff most my life till to crippled to hobble to the out house. I'm 73 now so its only as easy as the good lord allows the body to move. I haven't raised my arms, either of them higher than my shoulder high in many a year.

Just like looking at my k30. Similar color, rockers have been done the same way, lol. Mine is an 86, 350 4 speed, 4:56 4x4. Waited for a long time to find it. Plan to do the same bumper and mirrors you have. Eventually going to do a 454/early nv4500 swap and throw a dump hoist under the flatbed. Your truck is definitely inspiration. Glad to see you’re still using yours! If you’ve made a video on it, forgive me, but how bad does that pintle knock you around in the truck? I’ve considered going gooseneck vs pintle since I want to have a dump bed. My truck already has a gooseneck ball, but keeping the bed open will be nice to haul equipment and material/debris at the same time.

@alkennedy11244 жыл бұрын
You need to make a new thumb out of a pair of old 3 inch hydraulic pistons, from old slave cylinders, they will probably hold up better, or use some 1.1/4 inch thick steel pivot Pinot to end make it curved and don’t put any holes in it anywhere. The crowd on the excavator is stronger than the whole bulldozer , or some people call curl , anyway that buck strength is stronger then the whole bulldozer, kool thanks BigAl California.

My C25 with a mild 350 motor, sm465 transmission and 4.56 rear end. Which Is the lowest gearing you can have and still be able to go 50 to 55 MPH. Can go a little over 40 miles on 5 gallons of gas. So a lot better than you would expect. Especially if you have higher gear in your rear end.
@noahh49044 жыл бұрын
The excavators most powerful function is the curling in, that’s why the thump broke, would make it way stronger if you can, if not they sell them on eBay for relatively cheap
