I laughed at the part where you handed over the “key”. I normally expect a “will it start” video to be throwing in batteries, giving it a snort of ether and seeing what happens, but your “will it start” video is Right, Correct, and Proper.
@night_bot37982 жыл бұрын
A will it start is literally throwing batteries and ether at something, this is just a start up
@ron8272 жыл бұрын
You are a "right and proper stand up son." :-) I have absolutely no experience with a Cat starting engine but as a rule, it is not advised to wrap any starting rope around your hand in case of a backfire. A wood dowel is preferred on the end so it will readily slip out of your hand in case of a backfire rather than ripping some skin off your hand. No, I am not a safety Nazi, just experience talking. :-)

This D2 seems to be in good condition. Starting the starting motor with one pull is pretty impressive and the diesel engine runs smooth. I have been learning a lot from your videos , I have a 1956 D4 7u series I am hoping to get it up and running again.

As someone who drives John Deere two cylinder tractors frequently, it always gets me to see pulling the throttle lever toward you to increase speed, and pulling the clutch lever toward you to engage it. These old Cats are backwards, haha…

My dad was the inspiration for a good portion of the old heavy rusty iron stuff I mess with. Unfortunately he wasn't interested participating. Nice tractor. Thought about just returning it to/retaining it in original condition? Would be a good ag tractor for those plowing demos/running a thresher etc. Probably retains the ag gearing in the gear box? You've got all the bits, and know how...

Where do you find all these tractors where all the hardware comes undone easily (even if initially loosened up first) and is not full of rust? : ) I'd be two hours done on those clutch adjustments just getting them freed up : ). The local custom exhaust shop may have a reject generic muffler that you can slip on the pony so you can hear yourself think - works wonders.

@darploin50712 жыл бұрын
I just was going to ask are you going to take it for a little drive and you answered the question right away the engine and the upper half of the tractor looks really good and needs minimal work done to it you said the tracks in the chain and the idlers were kind of rough shape that's what people need to look for when they buy a old dozer like that cuz engines in the upper half are easy to find but it's the drivetrain that becomes hard
