Why would a doctor know all this? I am a doctor and none of this is taught in medical school. Orthopedic doctors are trained to diagnose and fix problems say like you tore your meniscus or fractured your arm. Their role is not to be a physical therapist or strength or conditioning coach. We have to know so many things already when it pertains to medicine and the doctors were there to rule out any medical issue with the knee. Once that was ruled out, he was referred to physical therapy. Unfortunately not every physical therapist will be able to exactly identify your issue. Glad he found the help he needed but your comment about how all the doctors and physical therapists failed him is pretty off base

This is a lot of the same issue I have, my hips are also the issue, years of playing sports, particularly as a quarterback your hips and shoulders kinda develop to twist to the left and not to the right and you put more pressure on the right and have a twisted pelvis, been doing the banded mobility drills and the squats with bands and the pistol squats with hinges and been working towards no knee pain, my left patellar tendon is weirdly slanted and gets really inflamed sometimes tho, not use how to fix that, in a resting position it’s slightly slanted to the right and the right one is straight, could be a side effect from the patellar tear I had 2 years ago, it’s amazing that quarterbacks at a higher level than me don’t have crazy issues like these, the right knee pops a little in deep squats but isn’t painful like it used to be, not sure why it does tho nothing I’ve done has done anything to change that, a good warmup stops it from popping a bunch in workouts tho. I found out recently my hips aren’t normally shaped, I’m one of those people that has more back facing hips, doing sumo squats and squat ig with my feet pointed more outward has been a godsend, lunging ABSOLUTELY does not work for me tho, even done right, pretty sure they’re part of what caused my issues

Only a direct hinge with single leg squats I think, because it's otherwise easy to forget the glute engagement. With regular squats glute engagement can be cued/forced with a band as in the video, because it's meant to drive the legs out in the right position
@GotFaculty Жыл бұрын

Probably not, I dont believe he has been squating for 10 years. Maybe the pain was their due to his faulty movement pattern and he stop for 10 years. It it was consistent 10 years of squat training of maybe 2 two times a week, there maybe some imbalances with those test test due to compensatory movements for a long period of time.

I'm not too sure Buut the squat (although share it's name with the quads) doesn't only engage the quads It also includes the glutes the lower back the hamstrings the calves and even the abdominal muscles So as far as i do i hing my hips first then my knees (it trigger some back pain but once i get my knees hinged i won't be fine)
