I was so blown away by the Deluxe 61 pedal emulating the Brown Deluxe that I wanted to talk to Origin Effects about it to find out how they do it. I figured you'd enjoy being along for the ride.

My father was trained in electronics in the US Army Air Force. His job was to maintain the classified ground scanning radars in B24’s in Italy. After the war he had his own electronics business in Denver and installed the sound systems at Red Rocks and the Denver Coliseum. He tried to teach me the electronics rudiments but I was an untalented student. My first solo hand built radio blew up in the garage in a cloud of smoke. Since then I’ve left electronics repairs to the experts. My 73 Pro Reverb is currently out getting the reverb restored.

My Dad flew B24's in the Pacific during WWII, he was a Flight Engineer with a Corporal rank. He was drafted in the Army, but after testing transferred to the Army Air Corp. Like your Dad they had tremendous life or death responsibilities. My dad after 3 years of service managed to get 2 years of College credit while there? He was blue collar going in at 19 and has a white collar job at 23 years old! You can never underestimate guys from that era? My old man was a strict but fair father growing up, he was the last person I'd ever say that something is too difficult!😅 But that was his experience and what life taught him as a kid. Grew up in the depression and then shipped to war 1000's of miles from home, but made the most of it ❤ My post has nothing to do with what brought me here in the first place, but you had me at B24😅 So I had to share my Pops story with you m'brotha! Peace and rock on!

@chiller Cool story. Some of us are a bit more clumsy or less adept at some things. It's a good skill to know when you need help or to just hand something off to somebody else. My soldering is sort of ok on a good day and I have done a bit of work on my amps over the years but I know when it's time to bring it to an expert.

I can build most anything, with the right tools, out of wood or metal but I don't mess with plumbing or electrical. The repercussions of being wrong are high! Electrical shit is like magic to me. Very amused by your story. Your Dad sounds like an impressive dude. Installing those sound systems is impressive!

I love that detail orientation! And thank you for the description of how tremolo works in amps it tells me why no tremolo pedal sounds as 3D as my Swart AST PRO. 🎉

It was good, Keith. I had no idea how much there is to learn about amps and electric guitars...and now petals. Thanks 😊

I've got one of these pedals in my shopping cart. I tried one of these amps live in Guitar Center and loved it, but my wife wouldn't let me spend the money on it. I went back 3 weeks later and it was sold. Now I can buy the amp in pedal form and can't wait. One of my favorite amp tones of all time.

The Origin pedals are fantastic. I love running the Deluxe 61 into a JTM45. Their black Bassrig Fender pedal sounds great on guitar as well. It has a tweed voicing that sounds killer.

My entire board (over time) has turned into an “Origin Effects” board. Their stuff is the best. My rig goes from the new FET compressor, blue drive, green drive, yellow drive, and the revival drive compact (awesome). Thanks 5-watt world and OE for making tone a fun hobby.

My first amp was a blonde Fender Band master piggyback. My second was a 1962 Deluxe I bought from s friend whose husband died for $45.00. The sounds were great. But I've found, as most of you know, no amp is going to make you sound good. I currently use a knockoff Deluxe and a knockoff Strat and sound better than I ever have.

I've got a RevivalDrive and a Cali78 stacked edition, and I very rarely switch them our for other drives or compressors. I tried a ton of drive pedals, but the RevivalDrive felt like the best for 90% of the time. Excellent stuff overall. I'd love to check out one of their Fender style drives and see how it sounds thorugh my Vox AC15

Pedals of the highest order. Cali 76 has never left the rig I hope one day there are Midi preset versions with the analog path. Interesting, I use a Sans Amp PSA 1 for this reason. With a clean JMP 1 in the PSA 1's FX loop. Into a clean JCM 900 Power amp

Hey Keith. Love your tagline “getting the most from the least”. I have really embraced this. Make my living as a solo act and really enjoy not packing my favorite amplifier (65lb AC 15C2). And have leaned everything down as no one except me seems to notice that I’m using a UAFX 65 dream pedal. And I can get more usable tones without noise complaints. Anyway everyone is talking about plugging this into an amplifier, what about directly to house?

Yet another piece of gear that I'd love but can't afford - I'm going to have to stop watching this channel! John is a great communicator and seems like a genuine nice guy, good to 'meet' him.

Great episode! This makes we wonder if there's a pedal that approximates a Gibson LAB series amp. The LAB 5 has an unmistakable tone.

I have not found any IR I like for guitar work. Analog has no latency. digital is good for delay effects. IR is ok for things that are used very sparingly.... for a few seconds only. Analog amp modeling just sounds better and handles edge of breakup stuff so much more smoothly and sounds nicer.
