Already self-guessed that he is the mastermind and is mindfucking everyone. Anyway what this video doesn't show is the deaths being foreshadowed early. Gi hun betting on his mom's life (mom died), deo seok jumping off a bridge (he died falling from a bridge), sae byeok putting a knife at the agent's neck (she got hers nicked). Also the gift to gi hun daughter is in a ribboned box that looked like the ribbon caskets. The fire from lighter hints at the incineration process. The number 6 and 8 is important too. It appears throughout the show. 456, 218.

Il nam actually gi hun's father who left young gi hun and his mom for a squid game n won it. In one episode during a meal gi hun said that he didn't drink milk and il nam said so does his son. In gganbu game il nam did mention he used to live at a place like in the game and gi hun also did mention the same during his childhood

my favourite foreshadowing was definitely the entire of episode 2, every character we see there and what they do foreshadows their death in the game. (Sae-Byeok took a knife to that guys throat, Sangwoo was in the tub (seemingly) wanting to commit suicide, and Deoksu jumped off the bridge)

I actually caught on to most of these things like 1. Smiling during Red Light Green Light 2. The number one position despite not fitting the same criteria of as everyone else. 3. The guards stoping the riot once he said to stop meanwhile they never listened to anyone else despite death taking place. 4. And hinting that every game setting reminds him of his childhood But I overlooked all that and stopped suspecting him because of his stupid dementia and he was dead so it was ruled out in my book. Yea what made me overlook all that he had a brain tumor and the fact that he was super old. -I thought he was smiling because he enjoyed the game and had nothing to lose. -He voted to leave because even though he wanted to continue the game, it was unfair for him to decide. The younger people's still had a lot their life left to enjoy. -I thought the gaurd had a heart when the old man was begging. -i thought him knowing things was his strength and contribution to the team as a wise old man. What made me super suspicious was the town that looked like both of their home towns AND that we never saw him shot. But there was so much emotional warfare during that episode, I downplayed that idea.

After I watch the finale for the first time I already figure it out why Il-nam let Gi-hun won the marble game. If Il-nam won that game off course it will lead to his death which is the next game that they could push him out of the glass bridge.

My theory for the glass stepping game is this. The one rule is you can't wear your shoes on the glass, so they were asked to take them off. What they all could've done, was simply have the shoes in their hands and throw each shoe at the platform and hope that it's enough to break the glass, and if it breaks, everyone survives.

Something no one seems to have catch in all the breakdown videos I watched (Heavy spoiler, NewRockstar, french you tubers etc) is that there was another major clue during the marble game! When Il-Nam was searching for his home and finally found it, next to the door you can see a plate. In real life, you always have the name of the owner, or something like that however on this plate what do you have? A square, a circle and a triangle... the three shapes from the card for the game... so Il-name's house is the house of the game master....

My suspicion grew from ep 7, when I saw the figure and gesture of the leader with the golden owl mask somehow resembled Il-Nam's fragile body, I was suddenly remembering that we never actually saw his death and I was wondering why we were only able to see the leader after the 6th game. Also the leader seemed to be already there in the island (although we only learned about his presence in the 7th episode, but his suits and golden mask were always there in the frontman's room from the early episode) yet even the the cop couldn't find him when he searched the frontman's room.. Finally, when the leader chose not to show up to greet the other VIPs for no apparent reason made me almost certain that Il-Nam is the big boss. I guess the director had to "hide" him because of his unique features, I mean it would be too easy for the viewers to notice him if he made too much appearance on screen even with his golden mask on..

First of all, I’m not Korean and am not fluent in Korean. But I learned it a bit, know how to read and write it, as I’ve been invested in Korean culture for a few years cause of Kpop/kdramas and is in love with learning languages. I’d like to say your pronunciation of Gihun is pretty okay in this video, The ㄱ in the Korean alphabet is most commonly used as a G but it’s possible for a K as well, like for example the name Kim in Korean is also written with ㄱ (김). So a bit of the combination of the G&K sound is the most accurate way on how to pronounce ㄱ words like Gihun. But a simple G sound is already great.

don't forget how the players died, there was a clue too. first, sang-woo, in the early episode, he tried to kill himself in the bathtub wearing a suit and drenched. on the day he died, wearing a suit and getting wet in the rain. second, the large tattooed man, there was a scene when he tried to run escape by jumping off the bridge, and on his death, he died from falling off the glass bridge. third, sae-byok, in the early episode there was a scene where she put a knife to a man's neck, and at death she was killed with a knife through his neck

The fourth game is definitely the most interesting in context of the twist. I think the original version of the old man’s plan was to be the odd man out when players were pairing off. In that event, the odd man out would have been “eliminated” which would have allowed him to the leave the game quietly without suspicion. Since he was selected by Gi-hun, he had to change the plan and feigned the dementia. I think the purpose of that was to drag the game out til the last second and then allow Gi-hun to win. If he hadn’t of done that and lost against Gi-Hun while other teams were still playing, it wouldn’t have been suspicious to those teams that he wasn’t shot like everyone else and a player from each of those teams would survive to be able to tell the others creating further issues.

My favorite easter egg is how the (main) characters died have parallels/foreshadowed to what they did in episode 2: Sang Woo commited suicide and he was ready to end himself in the bathtub Sae Byeok was gonna cut his dealer's throat and in the end she got herself cut in the neck (and the shard was placed in the same place she pickpockets people) Jang Deok jumped off a bridge to escape and fell off his death in stepping stone game Ali "robbed" his boss and he got robbed in the marbles game.

The Heavy Spoiler video missed one of the largest clues and I'm so annoyed because it ruins part of their explanation lol. In the Tug of war game, after they won, there's a shot where you see them all lying on the ground. You see that there's a padlock on the handcuffs that keep the players attached to the rope. Except for Il Nam, he doesn't have a padlock on his constraints. If his team had lost, he could have released the rope, and then the guards would have pretended to kill him on the platform and he would have left the game there. Because HS missed this he goes into an explanation that this game isn't dangerous because Il Nam knows how to play it, but that's nonsense. We see in the actual show that they're about to lose until Sangwoo comes up with his desperate strategy.

I'm getting likes for this but this isn't true, there are other angles in the scene where you can see that the old guy has the padlocks on his wrists. So actually the real explanation was just that Squid Game is not a very good show and the creators didn't give much of a fuck about the product, and we wasted a lot of time trying to see how the show worked when it just didn't work at all. I'm bummed out about it but whatever.

On the Tug of war, the old man has locks on his chains like everybody else, but at the end of the game when they lie flat on the pedestal thing, his locks were gone while others still have theirs. I thinks it's a safety feature to ensure that he wouldn't fall.

That's one of, if NOT the VERY FIRST THING I said when we meet Il-nam. I said "Why is he the ONLY person old person there?... and there's nobody even close to being as old as he is either." 456 also has meaning. In the first episode, there is a horse racing game, and the horse chosen by Sung Ki-hoon is number 456. As you can see 456 number horse fell behind, but later came first. Gi-Hun also fall behind at first, but in the last episode, he took no1. So the number 456 horse means Seong Gi-Hun.

It may seems too much to think. But I think, Hero is the son of the Old Man. Have few points to say it. 1) Hero and his mom not talked about his dad, also he s the only child. Just like that old man also talked about his son only not about his wife or other kids. 2) On 3 or 4th episode, when hero says not want milk, old man says his son also did the same in his childhood. 3) On 6th episode, when that old man says that set looks like his home area, hero says his childhood home also looks like this. 4) On the same episode, old man says after he come back from home, he hide and watches that his son playing with his friends, session's 1st episode's opening scene, young age hero plays with his friends. 5) On episode 2, all other players come back willingly whereas old man met hero and makes him to think about the returning (Why he want to meet only hero among all other 200 participants) 6) Hero getting the last no. is may not be coincidence, as old man may wanted him as notable. 7) Episode 6, hero gives his jacket 456 to old man, but while returning back old man gives his jacket 001 on intentionally. So that, the front man may monitor and protect him. 8) this one is very much interested. The last 6th game is Squid game which hero is very much good in it as they shown on 1st episode's opening scene. Old man may designed this game as last to give the winning chance to hero. 9) Finay, Why old man may selected his own son and put it to this dangerous game? Hero's wife left him and took their kid as he is not capable to run the family. Hero got into this game for his child (daughter). Maybe Old man also faced this with his wife (hero's mom) in earlier days as being irresponsible or selfish. 1) They didnt win the tug war only because of Il Nam...it was mostly because of the whole "three steps forward" part So the idea that any team with him would win is wrong 2) He didnt give Gi hun the marble because he was scared to keep playing..he did it simply because he was grateful that Gi hun played with him. Sorry if someone else has already said- a lot of comments to read through! You’re right, the ‘g’ used in Gi-hun’s name: ‘ㄱ’ is a harder sound kind of between a ‘g’ and a ‘k’, a true ‘k’ is: ‘ㅋ’. You can see in episode one that his name is written: 성 기훈 which they have romanised as Seong Gi-hun in the show. The thing that confuses most people is the ‘u’. Often it’s the ‘eo’ letter: ‘ㅓ’ which is written as a ‘u’ and they might have chosen to romanise his surname as Sung (Song would be: 송 which is actually a more common surname). The hun part is not using the same letter ㅓ/eo which is how everyone (including you and the guy that did the explanation video) keeps pronouncing it, but a ㅜ/u which is equivalent to an ‘oo’ so his name could also be romanised as Gi-hoon/ Gi-Hoon, Gihoon. Netflix’ subtitles tend to be a bit odd anyway. Sometimes in some programmes they romanise names such as Sang-woo with the woo and other times it would be written something like Sang-u (which is more accurate in a way as it literally is just the letter u/oo in the second part of the name, but gets romanised as woo/wu but the W isn’t really pronounced, more like saying oo starting with pursed lips like you’re going to blow a balloon up). Sorry for the essay, my neurodivergent brain needed to pass on the info! 😁

Things missing in here: In the tug of war game, he only has the cuffs but no locks. In the marble game, he completely made himself look like he gave up on life so no one will pick him, thus leaving him to be the only one who supposedly won't get picked, so the players will assume that he's dead when he's escorted out, reason why the soldiers didn't do anything to Min-yeo 'coz that's what was supposed to happen to Il-nam. I know Gi-hun is really a kind hearted guy but I really feel like even Il-nam didn't expect that Gi-hun will still pick him, hence the reaction like he didn't expect it, then when Il-nam played in the marble game, knowing that it could be his real last game, he used his knowledge and experience, reason why Gi-hun was losing right from the start until Gi-hun cheated and him riding with it. For me, among all the hidden details, the one from the red light, green light game is the best one, it's good that they made it look like the doll excluded him but the fact that they made a logic that the doll will also not include the ones in his vicinity so he will really not get hurt in case the ones beside him move, just damn, that was sooo goooood.

Sure, it was up in the air whether 001 was in on it up until they literally show him after he was eliminated as being the host. When the Front Man walks into a VIP room with 001 in a suit and you see the back of his head and a close up of the hand that gave 456 his last marble.

I suspected Il-nam since the beginning, thinking it was going to be like in Saw where the sick person is the one behind it all. So I noticed right away when his picture wasn't the first one in the binder and that confirmed it for me. Then he wasn't killed on screen and the host had an elderly hand. His knowing the song during Red Light, Green Light isn't a clue to him being behind it all. All the Korean players would know this game and the song lyrics. One of the players (can't remember if it was Gi-hun or someone else) before they even start confirms they are actually going to play that game by saying the song lyrics. The clue was really how gleeful he was in it all (mainly why I suspected him in addition to the tumor thing).

What I'm still wondering about is tug of war. The video says that anyone on Il Nam's team is destined to win, but it actually takes both his ideas and Song Woo's for them to win. What if Song Woo hadn't had the idea that turned it around? It seems like there's not much Il Nam could do to stay alive except stop the game.
