I’ve had one of these for a year now I gotta say it’s awesome. I replaced my pots and just added a treble bleed also changed the cap to an orange drop. Also put in a set of the new j masics pickups and they really make the guitar stand out more I do think the stock ones that came are really good tho. Unfortunately my neck keeps shrinking I’ve had to take care of fret sprout about 3 times since I got it. It got so bad that I just replaced the neck with the new roasted maple neck that literally solved my issue all in all it’s amazing guitar mines just now fully modified lol. The body on mine resonates better than any instrument I own it’s a keeper forever.

Bought ones today, gonna swap the neck with a roasted maple neck and replace the pickups with pure vintage pickups

*Make sure you get new pickup covers if those pickups don’t come with them…the stock covers are sealed onto the pickups.

I literally just replaced my neck with the new roasted maple Jazzmaster neck this week gotta say it feels really good in the hands cutting the nut was an experience but well worth it. My neck had the worst case of fret sprout ever. I’ve had to file the neck three times since I got it last year.

This was awesome! Were the gotoh tuners a direct drop in replacement such that you didn’t have to drill or do anything to make them fit?
@EJBGuitar Жыл бұрын
Just had to change the ferrules (the little rings in the headstock that the shaft goes through) along with the tuners - but the Gotoh tuners come with their own ferrules too. I use those Gotoh tuners on every guitar I have that came with the vintage Fender/Kluson style tuners.

Great review and info. Looks like you didn't need to shim the neck?

No shim. Thanks!

Is there a replacement bridge that doesn't move? It seems like loctite is only a temporary solution. And did you notice tuning issues without using loctite?
@EJBGuitar Жыл бұрын
Loctite will hold it until you don’t want it to hold anymore! I put the Loctite on it as soon as I got it because those bridges are notorious for moving, so I didn’t even test it before then. It’s such an easy and cheap “fix” that I just did it. If you’re not noticing any issue, don’t worry about it.

I know it’s super controversial for jazzmasters, especially for purists but I love a TOM style bridge!

Great video! Where did you buy the plate to make it a hardtail?
@EJBGuitar Жыл бұрын
Thanks! I got the hardtail plate on Reverb. I bought a few of them awhile back when they were around $20 bucks…now they’ve crept up to around $50 bucks I believe. I also haven’t seen the plates with the slanted holes like all of mine - they seem to all have the holes in a straight line now…no big deal I guess, I just prefer the slant for aesthetics.
@anthonyfarias3632 Жыл бұрын
@@EJBGuitar Thanks! I like the angled holes as well. Another thing, did you have to modify the holes for the locking tuners or were they an exact fit?
@EJBGuitar Жыл бұрын
Exact fit for the tuners - that is what’s so nice about using the Gotoh’s…no drilling. You will have to pop out the stock “ferrules” out of the headstock (easy) and put the new ferrules in…the outer diameter is the same but the inner diameter is slightly larger to allow the locking tuner post to fit. Keep the stock tuners and ferrules in a drawer and you can always go back to them if you sell the guitar later on.
