Squirrel Girl Is AMAZING... If You Play Her Right

The one thing that i learned from using her, even in ranked play, is that one the enemy team does not expect it. Second, her acorns do so much damage that you can literally destroy a lot of placeable items from other heros (groot walls, ahnk, spidernest, etc), rather fast and easy. Most of the moonnights i run into drop their ahnk and I just destroy it with one shot. its super useful to know these things too.

One thing I would add to the strategy against divers is to never face away from them. Keep them in front of you the best you can and learn how to animation cancel her slingshot with her melee. 2 shots and a melee will typically be enough to kill if they've taken any other damage or will get them low enough that they may disengage. Root them, shoot+melee, shoot and you're going to win most of your 1's.

My favorite thing about Squirrel Girl is that you can bounce her projectiles underneath shields, like those held up by Magneto and Doctor Strange, and while you should focus on non-tank heroes when the opportunity presents itself, tanks doing their job and protecting their lower health brethren don't allow for that, so you can bounce Squirrel Girl's acorns underneath the shield if the tank doesn't have their shield blocking their legs and damage them that way.

It's also great on maps like Shin-Shibuya on defense where you can bounce it under the payload and it'll usually blow up right in between most of the team if they're stacked and pushing.

Her burst damage is deceptive. I can bank shot an acorn, ground bounce an acorn and direct hit an acorn so that two hit at the same time and the third almost immediately after. She 3 shots a lot of the cast this way.

Pro tip: Despite the abilities page not showing it (just like most characters), SG does have a melee attack (V) that can hit multiple heroes per attack. When cornered by a zippy melee hero, instead of lobbing shots and hoping for the best, give them a mouthful of tail fur.

Yeah I've softened melee characters with the acorn shots then finished them with two melee hits, it's surprisingly effective and melee attack seems to do decent damage on its own

yes, also a lot of ranged characters who have slower shooting rates can weave melee attacks in between ranged attacks. You do this by holding down the left mouse button and tapping your melee key in rhythm with your ranged attacks.

Something to note about her acorn shots is that they do the same damage no matter where you hit an enemy, so you don't need to worry about trying to get headshots. And since the acorn bounces a few times before exploding, a lot of SG players aim low (for grounded enemies) and "roll" the shot towards the enemy, like the player you highlighted who was rolling their shots up the slope. Also Mammal Bond not only lets you use an ability that is on cooldown, but it also refills your shots, much faster than the normal reload. It can also be used in air, so if you need to tailbounce out of a situation, you can bounce, use the Mammal Bond and bounce again. Also good if you need to get to a REALLY high point.

I find that for flyers it is difficult to lead them where you want especially if they're hovering over their team and it's hard to get closer for better shot. Lobbing becomes a useful tool in cases like this. I can annoy an iron man away from their team by lobbing shots and keeping him in a tight and small fly space (to make it easier for others to shoot him). If he's dumb and Flys further from his team then it may be safe to approach and do what was done to that storm in the video.

Ehh, I disagree. A good flyer is way scarier than a good dive character. They’re much harder to hit, you don’t get the benefits of bouncing shots, and there is never a character next to them for the splash damage. She’s better than a lot of other ranged duelists at fighting dive characters because of her root and tail bounce.

I'm not disagreeing with you. But I find that as I'm trying to learn her (the Lunar New Year skin is way too good, so I want to play her), Everything you said has proven untrue for me. If I try to pick my shots instead of just constantly lobbing nuts, I hit almost nothing. I also find that my nut will often fly straight through an enemy's torso unless I fire at their feet. This is turn means that any time I come across a flyer or a sniper (at range) I am almost completely useless against them, especially Ironman. If he isn't near the ground it takes a miracle for me to hit him. Once again, I'm not saying you're wrong, but I have yet to figure out how to do the things you are saying without getting picked off by a far away sniper or missing entirely. She's insanely fun, and I can rip a hole through an AI team, but against players I get nothing.

Try playing conquest or summon 4 Ironman on random pathing in the shooting range to get better at her aim. A tip against flyers, ignore them if you can. If they’re not shredding you, focus on the other 5. Squirrel girl does best when pressuring choke points, clusters around payloads or even lobbing shots at the supports in the back. Her root is great against tanks. If you double root them, they will die. I normally play in the middle of the pack, but slightly off to the side, and I’ll often push forward if the situation calls for it, but just getting good at lobbing shots is the most important part.
