Something others seem to be forgetting is that Iris is an Ancient Black Dragon, she was around before Matty's previous life and all the centuries since then. On the other hand this Red Dragon boy is very young. He never stood a real chance against Iris. Her fighting in human form gave the Winged Lizard a handicap.
