I’m reading hundreds of comments of folks hemming and hawing over this and that and all the micro details that may or may not make this drivetrain a gamechanger. Hands down the absolute gamechanger here is the UDH interface and the new Transmission derailleur. Absolute mic drop. This derailleur CRUSHED everything. Would be cool to see 52-9 though, just sayin’😂

Great video, Thanks. I have just a little bit of time on my XO Transmission and its been amazing. Only complaint I have is the new pod, I removed that and went back to the old controller with the add-on shifter paddle. With AXS I prefer to use the single shift mode, no 2x or 3x autoshifting. The lack if feedback makes it easy to change more gears than I wanted.

I tried older 1295 cassette on a T type GX transmission incl. t-type chain and it works ok .. i put 1.5mm spacer behind the cassette to improve chainline a bit ,but not needed to work ok as microajust i on 8 position ( without spacer will be around 2-3 ) . my crank is Next 12 speed model ,it works with t type chain too . I used a new T-type cassette with the axs derailleur, XO1 chain, and used a 1.5mm washer under the derailleur. It runs, but unfortunately not as smoothly as with the original XO1 cassette. If I micro adjust derailleur on the smallest cogs, then it doesn't go well on the largest ones and vice versa. I think the main trick is that T-type derailleur is better optimized for the T-type cassette. I am coming back to my original axs setup which works perfectly.@@LoveMTB

LoveMTB - I understand that with SRAM’s new Eagle XX T-Type AXS Transmission, "shifting under load is made possible”. Is it correct to assume that shifting under load is NOT recommended with my 2021 AXS Eagle XX1 group-set??
@LoveMTB
@LoveMTB 6 ай бұрын
Kind of depends what you mean by that. Shifting under load, to a SMALLER cog is clunkier on SRAM 12 speed vs Shimano 12 speed/ HG+. T-Type is trying to mimic that using electronics and they succeed but Shimano HG+ is still better in my opinion. Shifting under load to a parget cog/ smaller gear is kinda similar on all...

@LoveMTB Form what i understood from this video the new cassettes have a 2.5mm offset, away from the spokes towards the rear derailleur. Theoretically speaking, if I was to put a 2.5mm spacer behind an "old style, non T-type" cassette, to move it outward, towards the rear mech, run an "old style, non T-type, non flattop chain", shouldn't that work in conjunction with the new tranmission derailleur? In my mind, as long as the spacing in-between the cogs of the cassette, remained the same, it should work just fine. Would you think the same? If so, this could be a hack to not blow ridiculous amounts of money on the new cassettes. What do you think?

So, I have a new 2023 Marin RZ2 frame with a Sram UDH. I just ordered a T-Type cassette in order to obtain the recommended 55mm chainline, along with a Sram Eagle Wide (also 55mm chainline) crankset. want to stick with mechanical due to cost but I'm confused by your example of the cassette jamming up even though a Sram UDH is used. @@LoveMTB Thanks for the reply. So, I have the UDH on my Marin RZ2 and it sounds as though I cannot use this cassette with that. I assume that the 55mm chainline is maintained by the cassette extending wider outboard (to account for the missing hanger). I am trying to meet the 55mm chainline for mechanical shift using a Sram Wide BB, Sram Wide crankset, a standard Eagle (non-T-type derailleur) and so I thought I was doing the right thing by going with the T-Type cassette to meet said standard but would I be better off using a standard Eagle GX (non-T-type) cassette?

I got my new bike last week with the new Sram AXS eagle derailleur and I was nog aware of the shifting delay... I must say this feels really clumsy... so if you get to a steep hill out of a corner and you want to quickly shift to a higher gear fast... the derailleur simply can't keep up and takes it's own time where you will have to push maximum on the climb... I must say, here Shimano works better... I read Srams argument to design the product like this, but any competitive MTB rider will confirm quick shifting performance is key on any parcours that has quick/steep hills...

Excellent comparison video. Why is SRAM going with the 55mm chainline? I thought boost was already the standard and what most frames are nowadays. Is it because rear tires are getting wider and need more frame clearance?

Yup tire clearance but they do 55mm right with cassette also pushed out. You can see all that explanation in the crankset video😉

I didn’t understand the main difference between these cassettes. The price difference only comes from the silver coating of it? Silver one have more lifetime then the X0 version? There is not a weight difference so what is the main thing that silver one is more expensive? I’m planning to use on my Levo e-bike. 👍🏻

It's all good but it still doesn't solve the chainline issues of 12 speed. I'm seriously considering bringing my bikes back to 1x7 speed DH drivetrain but with 30 tooth chainring ... Seriously it's been years and it's happening on my XT bike and SRAM xo hardtail. It's still an issue that everyone ignores. I can't 😂

So let me get this straight…the old AXS X-dome machining was more expensive to manufacture, so they went to a cheaper, pinned construction…and charge the consumer more for it? Nice.

I Like Sram but the Casset thing is a absolute rich kids thing. I mostly use the Gear 10-12 for long range. So like go to work and back home. This why i changed to Micro Spline Casset. I can easely change the worn out gear and it cost me just 8-20€ instead of a 300€ Casset, because mine is dead on gears i need and just half ridden. The Chain works great so far and moves easy over all gears. The most great thing about the Colored 12S Chains are that the outside of the Links arent getting rusty like the Shimano ones. Nice for sram to bring out a T-type one but useless for me when i cant change the gears i use the most.

The current Sram products are already too expensive. GX 10-50 Cassette your lucky to find new for under $200. Chain $90 for a supposed good one. Front chain ring $40…..I easily definitely go through two chains if not three a year. Cassettes are sloppy before the end of the season even when keeping the chain clean and lubed and replacing it to try and help the cassette. I find it hard to believe Sram is spec’d so heavily or Shimano by manufacturers. I’m currently in my second bike spec’d all Sram but I can say Shimano lasted longer and were cheaper to replace the components for sure. The big thing is Shimano definitely shifted way better and stayed in adjustment way better. If it’s true Sram is stepping up their shifting game with this redesign I can only imagine what it will cost now…..

You were measuring the mass of the cassettes not the weight. Grams/kilograms is a unit of mass not weight. The mass of an object is the same on Earth as it is on the Moon but the weight is different at each of these locations because weight is the product of mass multiplied by gravity. You don't say kilogram meter for torque do you? No, it's Newton Meter where Newton is the unit of weight and force in the Si Metric System.
