+@ArchEdits I watched the original video fully. It was very bizzare (and deeply disappointing) to watch the professors and "scientists" who were asking questions in the original video with Ravi Shankar-their sheer fawning attitude towards him is cringeworthy. Respect is one thing, but their approach appears to be almost unbridled hero-worshipping adulation. If THESE are the persons who are at the cutting edge of sceptical scientific enquiry in India, and if this is really the unquestioning servitude that they have towards a supposedly enlightened religious preacher-a Hindu preacher in this case-then the research done in institutions in India is likely to have very little hope of making any significant contribution to the field of science. I shudder to think of the plight of any student or researcher working under these professors, who dares to be rational in his/her approach towards religion. That being said, I suspect that there might be some politics involved. Given the mindset of the ruling dispensation in the central government of India at the time of the original video-apparently 30-Oct-2021-I cannot help but wonder whether at least some of the professors and scientists were somehow "coerced" into playing their respective roles in the above-said video.

That is why golden ages of different empires never coincided. Good for you. The main purpose of religion should be to encourage introspection so that we can be more aware about our mind and how it behaves and eventually it can calm down from constantly chattering and we can be silent. But unfortunately today almost all the religions just spread pseudoscience, superstitions and dogmas. And some go on to explain the world and its laws which is totally stupid because nothing about the world is revealed in introspection. It only gives an insight about our own mind which is enough. There is no need for religion to interfere with science in any way and it should not.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar is a great genius and a spiritual master who has enlightened us with his wisdom and teachings. He has revealed the secrets of ancient Indian scriptures that contain advanced scientific knowledge that the modern world is yet to discover. He has shown us how science and spirituality are compatible and complementary, and how they can enrich our lives and society. He has quoted from authentic sources that have been verified by many scholars and sages. He is not misleading anyone, he is inspiring them to explore the deeper meaning of life and spirituality. He is not against science, he is showing how science is incomplete without spirituality. He is not making up things, he is interpreting them in a logical and rational way. After you do art of living course (esp the advanced meditation course) then u will realise that he is right by experiential knowledge rather than just theory.

Rationalism is a valid form on inquiry, were it not maths cannot be trusted as a system. Economics, namely praxeology also relies upon deductive reasoning rather than empirical observation. All observations require a prior assumption for the observation to be compared with. Empiricism does not exist in a vaccuum.

Love your attitude. Knowledge is not a competition- mine superior to yours. It is a collective effort by humanity to figure it out. I am sure the sages of that era would have said the same & respected each other. That is what wise men do. Ignorant shallow minds try to gloat in some great achievements of human intellect of the past as if it is to their credit. While what they are doing is contrary to all wisdom. Just a compensation for their inferiority complex from their present.

Thanks for the videos! 🙏 interesting to have a counter arguement to these topic discussions. My layman opinion: science and spirituality are both enlightening AND were interwoven for thousands of years. scientists had spiritual lives and mystical practices. NOW there is a good reason for separation in practice. spiritual truths can open the heart and perform miracles in life, but they should not be at the expense of the scientific method. It leads to extremism and ignorance.

The tools used for scientific discoveries are limited whereas the reality is unlimited/infinite. Who decided the means, ways, or experiments for these discoveries? The claims made from other methods apart from those agreed by the "scientific community", are they scientific or not? Who decides what's scientific and which is not? Who decides whether meditation is scientific or not? Who decides whether introspection is scientific or not? Who decides physics is science and how much of physics is in science? What is the boundary between physics and other fields of science?
@coversonkeys86173 жыл бұрын
Very rational arguments. Here are my thoughts, some might not fully agree with yours. The scriptures I think, follow a top down approach, simply because the derivation of that particular logic is lost in time. Take for instance the Ka ta Pa ya Di sankhya, which provides the value of pie. I am an avid watcher of the Veritasium channel. Do watch the video - ' Math has a fa flaw'. The example for set theory, sounds eerily similar to the shanti mantra. I think Science and humanity is rediscovering things which was already discovered or rather trying to formulate things which can be proved or observed in nature whithin the realms of physical laws. Sometimes you have to take a leap of faith to understand things which is beyond normal understanding. What looks scientific now was magical/fictional earlier. For instance planes/smart phones. Similarly what looks illogical now could have been scientific earlier. Just because we don't know how to prove something doesn't mean the thing or phenomena doesn't exist. For example the biggest miracle of nature is the anomalous behaviour of water (Density of ice being lower than water). The more you know the more it gets confusing. Try explaining quantum mechanics to a person who is not from science background, He'll find it gibberish. It all come down to perspective, how one looks at a particular idea. An open mind and analogy opens up possibilities for understanding things which might be scientifically complex but not easily relatable. Illogical analogies helps us to understand a difficult concept. Don't get hung up on the example, but try to look at the point one is trying to make. I love science, that's what makes one open to ideas. Science is all about experimenting, that's what the ancients from different civilizations did. I think the Indian civilization was pretty advanced for its time, because even in this day and age of scientific advancements, people are trying to debate/quote/rationalise/disprove it, which itself speaks volumes of its inherent knowledge within. The point is if it were so illogical it would not have stood the test of time. Illogical concepts do not pass the test of time. There is an element of truth in every thing all we need is an eye and an open mind to see it. The concept of time dilation is also explained in the story of King Muchukand and Kalyavan (Story of Shri Krishna). The concept of multiverses is touched upon in Shri Krishna's childhood story (Destroying Bhramha's ego). The concept of self replication is explained in Rakhtbeej vs maa Durga. One finds knowledge where he wants to see it. Just like one prove or disprove anything. There is no such thing as right or wrong it all depends on perspective, level of knowledge which one holds at that point of time. Galileo was killed for saying that the earth was round, and that the solar system was Heliocentric and not Geo-centric.Another example of thing which was laughed at earlier is now common knowledge.

"if somebody knows, please let me know." you said about vibration. good. this is the attitude you should have when learning about spirit & spirituality. these are not things which come in our regular "emperical" range. we need special apparatus to see & feel these things. just like you need special glasses to see infra red.
@dzrknx Жыл бұрын
First of all, if you paid attention to your 4th grade class you would know that sound cannot really effect you physically (well, sound can destroy your ears). You can't see vibrations, you can only feel them if they are strong enough.

Hey, taking mind inward does not mean only introspection. It also is an aspect of meditation.The ancient rishis have told many truth about universe due to meditation.Hence reference of going inwards helps to know of outer world.Not introspection dude. Meditation is different from introspection! Maybe u need to listen to him from space of understanding rather just picking words to point out mistake n making ur own interpretation n story in ur head.Also if u have doubts, u can definitely meet Him up n ask questions physically, He will clear all ur doubts!!

Three cheers to your laudable efforts to open up these intricate cultural & religious biases which even our so called scientists uphold !! Recently I listened to Lawrence Crause’s audiobook on KZbin “ The Universe from nothing” which clearly says what “Nothing” means in an empirical context . Worth listening/ reading this . Really commendable that you have boldly put these issues we face especially wrt Hinduism which has fantastic and amazing ideas , thoughts, literature but everything is wrapped in superstion, fear driven superiority & meaningless banters ( as in any religion for that matter) . Much appreciate your work ! Best wishes and lil forward to more such “revelations “.

Even the telescope is a product of introspection .Further a study with the intention of being documented needs measurement but the inference got through introspection alone lacks this measurement ie this dimension. Hence introspection alone is not sufficient & the inference through introspection is not completely wrong.

Hey Pranav! I commented a lot and in discord recently for you to address this "Age of the universe acc. to hinduism", glad to find it being addressed here. What really does fascinates me that even being wrong by a WIDE margin from the actual age of the universe, it is more than commendable to think that people of those times were able to think at those SCALES of numbers. No doubt it probably is just another throwaway guess, but having thought of the scale is something to think about. What do you think is the reason for estimation?

And these text dont intend time dilation as a theory but uses the concept to compare the everlasting life of god and earthlings. And I have texts to back up my statement. So, its a complete coincidence that time dilation is a real thing.

I've heard Swami Sarvapriya Nanda about looking inwards, he doesn't propagate that by looking inwards you can understand the outside world. The simple thing is that the whole manifestation of the world is just the manifestation of Brahman, and I agree to him at that. Moreover he also warns us that science and religion can together bring truth and if there's a conflict between the two science shall prevail.

But that does not mean he tried to mix science with it , his programs are genuine yoga programs any body can attend. 5. He teaches meditation and yoga n runs an NGO. without using science but people want to hear so he sometimes tells his discussion. 6. I believe, Hinduism is one of the best metaphysical "thought" experiments ever performed. But the "confirmation bias"ists just don't understand that Hinduism has been way too precise to leave anything to guesswork as can be understood by how advanced our ancestors were in the field of geometry, astronomy, etc. Every tall claim made with confirmation bias is just way off - like there are several upa-theories that (besides the real one that tells the exact value to a very plausible extent) that proclaim that they had a precise estimate of something that's just way off for ex. the distance between earth and sun off by 1000s of KMs and cannot be used for any real calculations besides coffee table talks.
