You can address him as mama. In the brahmin community, any other male elders outside the relation are addressed as mama and women as mami. Its considered a mark of respect. If you are not.comfortable with that you can always use ஐயா. வயதில் மூத்தோர்களை ஐயா என்று அழைப்பது வழக்கம்தானே!

Wish people made an explanatory video similarly on the so called echchal and patthu that is prevalent in society today. Rituals were never in vedas. Some were fanatically followed without basis till date. I agree hygiene is of utmost importance anywhere but so called rituals like this wash basin is for patthu in flats is pretty unwarranted in this day and age.
