I love this live performance from SRV! Let me know other tracks I might be able to teach in future. cheers

Just what I needed. His style was so fluid and raw, thanks for taking the time to dissect a master class in music.

Great job , its probably my favourite SRV track, when your in the mood it relly flows. I wondered about the tone then you you flipped the selector. Is that for speed ? So in the heat of the moment a quick flick and its right in your go to tone? Cheers

Tabs are a good starting point. I feel using your ears is the best approach after your entry to guitar. Tabs don’t teach phrasing, great video sir

Yeah I sometimes keep the tab around but try to listen to the music more and use the tab for clues! Thanks 🙌

Solo is fantastic but I love the chords.

Hi James, thank you for the lesson. Small feedback - it would be immensely useful if you could also demonstrate some music theory behind SRV's choice of notes and what chord changes he is playing through. Great lesson anyways, keep it going! :)
@JamesOnGuitar2 жыл бұрын
Hi Leon, thank you. I did consider it tbh, but I find in this case the challenge is far more in the physical aspect of the playing and speed and phrasing, whereas the theory is reasonably more simple so i think from my experience better to concentrate on one over the other. That isn’t meant to sound dismissive 🙌

@@JamesOnGuitar I see your point definitely. I had this very conversation with my guitar teacher where we compared playing styles between SRV and Larry Carlton. It was clear who outlined the chord changes in this case. I can see the appeal of a straight up 'this is how you play...' lesson and this is a great example of one. Keep up the great work. Looking forward to your future videos!
