yes, but it cancels only when you land, so instead of shining then jumping like in Melee, you jump first and then very quickly shine just as you barely leave the ground

By rapidly hitting the B button. No real secret. You can get two off with one short hop, and 3 with a full jump. You want to move from the left C to the B button, rapidly hitting it. If there's an easier way then I certainly do not know of it.

Brawl is the most balanced fighter game right now... Not many broken techniques. And there's not one broken character, except maybe IKE since he's too fast for his strength. Brawl isn't off balance at all lol, it's just slow and floaty... which is why I love melee alot more lmao.

Or you can sine right before you hit the ground; either way works, I think. You just have to be right above the ground when you shine.

Agreed, Super Smash Brothers 64 still has a charm about it. The fast pace, wicked combos, and fun sound effects made it very satisfying to beat on someone. I have seen some exciting Brawl matches but by comparison, Brawl is slow and you usually end up watching two people trying to outcamp the other. When a game with the word 'smash' is in the title, you would expect that the game would be played offensively. Were in Brawl, abusing the defence strategy is the key to win. Result, boring matches.

ttechnically, if its done correctly, once its started you cant get out. you can usually get out before it gets started, and usually they dont do it perrfect so you can get out.

those combos are only possible because of a continuing mistake by the person being comboed. usually you can hold away and get out of combos. sometimes you have to switch back and forth to mess them up, but usually DI away to escape toward to survive.

@MrQuabojones I use down-c to short jump. You can also do a 1.5 jump. For the 1.5 jump I roll my thumb from right-c to down-c and slide down to A. It is a super fast jump and attack. Or c + up on joystick and then A. Using the joystick for the short jump for me is way harder though. I'm also not as good as Isai so take or leave lol

@eqeek learn to short hop. its the key here. wat you do basically is tap the jump button very quickly, and you will jump just slightly off the ground. practice alot by alternating between a full jump and a short hop.

I def agree on the competitiveness, it was made to be an non-competitive game. But party-wise? Are you kidding me? It kicks 64 and Melee's ass party-wise, its like, the premier party game, the perfect game to gather a bunch of friends and just chill while playing it. watching this, I can't see why Isai was still pretty good @ Melee when he tried to play it again. Unlike Brawl, this also seems to require fast finger/reflexes like melee does. too bad this didn't pick up a competitive scene waaaaay back when it first came out. it's very interesting to watch

Fanboys? 64 is as technical as Melee, just in different ways. Timing/placing is equally present in all three games. I think you mean spacing, or even mind games. Due to the fact that EVERY time you get hit you're probably going down (unless the other player makes a mistake) I consider 64 to be the most fun and the most optimal for mind vs mind play. It really gets down to player vs player and fooling someone into believing you're up to something. Where do you think Isai got "Don't get hit" from?
