Hello from Canberra, Australia. What a great video of catching up with people you haven't seen and they way you just get on so well and how they know you thru your videos. The world can be a small place but you open it up. You guys allow me to travel to places I will never go, I experience things I would never do, I drink and laugh and are fascinated by where you are and what you are doing. You guys don't know how much you give to people with COVID lock down and you guys don't realize what you do for people suffering the Black Dog. Thanks for taking me with you and showing me your travels and life. I look forward to our next adventure. Cheers Scotty

Jose's observation about the resale value of the Amel 53 because of Delos is absolutely spot on. KZbin has really influenced the marketplace. Just ask owners of Lagoon catamarans (especially the 45) what Parlay Revival's expose of the engineering deficiencies in those boats has done to their values.

Lightening is beautiful but I do not like it as it struck my boat last year. Here a few things I learned in the process. 1- lightening hitting your boat sucks 2- Draft x 4= Minimum Depth of water you should be in during a lightening event according to a University of Florida study 3- I separated my standing rigging Bonding from my electronics Bonding 4- Disconnect VHF during storm or get a VHF cable thermal breaker 5- Lightening arrestors are 50/50. Some offer you a large payment if struck as a guarantee, this just seems like expensive insurance 6- Panama has more boats struck by lightening than Florida, according to my insurance guy 7- A lake in Venezuela produces the most lightening in the world, never knew that. 8- Metal thru hulls that are bonded or not can sink your boat.
@ernie70653 жыл бұрын
Can you turn off any switch to eliminate the effects of a lightning strike?
@SailingSophisticatedLady3 жыл бұрын
Nope, all you can do is make sure you mast and rigging are well grounded right to the water in as short a distance as possible.. anything less and you'll end up with perforations in your hull at the waterline where the lightning finds its own route to the water.

It would be interesting to know what precautions you take when there is a thunderstorm around? I can imagine you get quite fearful with all the electronic devices on board. Is there a way for degaussing the mast or neutralising the area around the boat so that the lightening strikes somewhere else? Tesla would of course be the real person to ask as he thought there was unlimited energy to be obtained from the heavens. Maybe you could get a boat to run on the stuff?

Madalena, you can save yourself from so much effort cutting the meat that thin by cutting it 2X or 3X thicker, letting it defrost and pounding it with a mallet, small pan or pot, rolling pin etc. This also tenderizes it of course ! I'm wondering if you could do the marinade with some pineapple juice in addition to lemon for it's own curing or cooking effect ? Pineapple is a great tenderizer, but should not be left on the meat too long or it gets gummy textured, and unappetizing.
