Great tutorial, I am new to junk journals. I'm using old calendars, scrap paper, old greeting cards. My dilemma is what type of glue to use without having my pieces buckle.
@myporchprints-junkjournalt53405 ай бұрын
How fun! Fabri-Tac is what we use for glue (link in description box, under our Amazon Affiliate link). It's non-water based so papers don't wrinkle, and it works well for fabric and even metal too. It dries fast, but not too fast. It's a bit pricey, but worth it if you have the spare change!

I love this journal! It has just the right amount of ephemera and writing space for my personal taste! I've made several mini albums, but just getting into "junk journals." I have bought several of your kits already and anxiously waiting to get a better printer so that I can start printing and making some of them! They make beautiful gifts, and of course, keep some for myself!! ❤

Hello! In the description box if you click on the Amazon shop link, it will come up with several group lists, including one at the top called "Junk Journal Supplies". If you click on it and scroll down it should say "see more supplies" at the bottom. This should reveal all the items including the bows. You can also find it in the list of junk journal supplies on our blog (also linked in description box), near the bottom of page is a long list which has the satin bows on it. Hope this helps!

Thank you for this video, Kyra! Your approach is incredibly helpful for beginners (speaking for myself) and your attention to detail is really impressive - where you take a second to bring an item closer to the camera so everything is clearly seen as you explain each part of the process. Beautiful designs, easy-to-follow instructions, and great “situational awareness” of your viewer’s visual perspective! Appreciate your approachable, pleasant personality too.👏💖

If we don't use fabric on the front cover, and the paer panels for the front and back aren't long enough to cover the spine.. what would we do with the spine area for coverage?
@myporchprints-junkjournalt53405 ай бұрын
Hello! We have some tutorials showing how to cover journal covers with paper. You use two sheets flipped vertically and layered with one another. You can see it here at the 2:40 mark in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bJiod2eAeK6HppIsi=jYkcxoiizvDRRs3j Hope this helps!

Is it easier to attach the paper covers before or after the signatures are placed in? What is your preference?
@myporchprints-junkjournalt53405 ай бұрын
I usually do the base of my covers first (fabric or paper), then bind in the signatures, and then decorate the cover. Since sometimes the binding method effects how I decorate the spine, and sometimes how I decorate the spine dictates how I decorate my cover. If that makes sense? But it really just depends on the journal. Sometimes I switch it up depending on what I am doing. I think for this journal you could do either/or.

Can it still be called a ‘junk journal’ if there is no ‘junk’ used?
@myporchprints-junkjournalt53405 ай бұрын
It's a generally accepted term. 😉Even though it's not actually "junk" many of our kits are created from scans of old documents, etc.
@cherylb63492 ай бұрын
I am new and confused as I feel like using your kits makes the journal not my own and I thought junk journaling is using stuff I find around my house??
@myporchprints-junkjournalt53402 ай бұрын
Hello! Making junk journals is simply a form of self expression. It's a very personal project, and there is no right or wrong way to do it, so you can choose to use or discard anything that makes your journal feel lovely and enjoyable to you. Some people use found items, some use digitals, some use a mix of both. Digitals don't make a journal any less personal or less beautiful. It's simply a material for journal creation like stickers, buttons, glue or fabric might be. Here is an article from our blog you might find helpful if you are new to junk journaling that goes a little more into detail on what a junk journal is and what you might use to make one: www.myporchprints.com/post/junk-journaling-a-z-glossary-of-terms Hope this helps answer your question!
