Supposed to be a simple speed sensor swap but turned out to be a lot more than that. Decided to just put the video up anyway. Please support us in supporting you by purchasing our parts from us.
I don’t know who built this trans previously and I don’t want to know. All we care about is now it’s right and will live a long service life.
We build a huge number of these units at Jacks Transmissions. We offer repairs, builds and upgrades for the DCT470 SST Dual Clutch Transmission. If you want to see this completed trans in action we test all our SST units in our vehicle here: • SST Testing After Rebu...

At 27:10 he just straight unscrewed that filter housing without pulling out the plastic locking arm up top. I don’t know anything about these trans other than that. That’s all I know. I also know the filter housing assembly that the lock arm is attached too is about 300$ if you break that locking arm off. lol other than that I’m loving this video. Thanks for sharing. Hope that arm made it. lol

Awesome video, very detailed and thorough. After reading through the comments, aparently alot of Ralliart and Evo owners wish these videos were out there years ago! I just picked up a 2010 Ralliart with a non-working SST. Oddly enough, I decided to buy it after looking at a couple high mileage cars and researching what I'd be into if the SST went out (cost to send it for rebuild or process of doing it alone). Then, for whatever crazy reason, became intruiged with how these worked after reading and watching stuff on them for hours, and opted to buy the broken car. I'm sure after diving into it, my interest will slowly turn to aggravation over time, but it's all part of the fun! Thanks for making this - anyone can tell you've been through alot of these. I just ordered some fluid, filters, and a couple of replacement vent elbows from you guys 👍

Hello, thanks for the videos. I have a small leak I think its coming from between the output shaft and t-case side, is it possible to replace that o-ring and environmental seal without cracking open the SST?
@GVR1670
@GVR1670 2 жыл бұрын
The o-ring is just to seal off from the environment so water, dirt, etc doesn’t get in there. It doesn’t seal as far as any oil is concerned. The large seal in the trans case is likely what is leaking. It is possible to swap that seal with the trans in the car. We use a medium sized flat screw driver and punch it through the seal housing (note be careful not to touch the case or shaft surfaces as you could damage them). I then use a hook tool to pull the seal out via the hole created with the screw driver. Installing the new seal will be tricky but using a tube that is the same diameter of the seal can allow you to get it in there.

@@GVR1670 Hello Jack, I have tried everything with regards to replacing that seal. Still no cigar I am an international customer, so I must say thank you for the seals your company sent me. I stripped the car myself when when my local dealership decided not to change the transmission oil every 7000km like I requested that caused the clutches to die, I also did pay for the oil they did not change. That o-ring is supposed to be a very complicated seal that is supposed to be clamped between the front diff and transmission on the South African and Australian Evo X's. It is my bad luck for not being hawkish and not trusting a single person as I should have made a 3d scan of everything on my car before sending the it in to be rebuilt. Hopefully I can find an online example or part number or else I'll just have to burn the car.

There may be a problem with the oil pump then. I would use small pry-bars to help pull the gear off the shaft. If it still refuses to come off there may be no choice but to break it off and replace the gear and oil pump.

Hey ! My cousin and I recently finished assembling my transmission, it had the fault of 2/4 where I was getting only odd gears. Upon opening it I decided to replace all the sensors.. I had replaced them with Dodson upgraded magnets. When I put the transmission back in the car I ended up not getting odd gears. I did more research and realized that the magnets needed to be aligned and in a specific position. I noticed you did use a jig and I was wondering how you know which positions they should be ! Appreciate the feedback ! I bought all my filters and seals from you guys !

Hello! Unfortunately, those forks are junk. We tried to work with them for years and they were a constant nightmare. That's what prompted us to make our own unique design that works reliably. Even with our jig those forks are hit and miss. Just buy ours and be done with it and have it right the first time.

Hi Jack, I'm having P1836 and P0716 (lost 1-3-5 and reverse). P1836 started before and was causing no issues, until P0716 showed up lol. @GVR1670
@GVR1670 Жыл бұрын
1836 is a shift fork 1 malfunction and the 0716 code is for input shaft speed. It’s hard to say without taking it apart. It sounds to me like maybe the 1/R shift shaft broke. It thinks it's in gear because the location magnets are still moving, but the gear itself is not rotating like the system suspects it should. Unfortunately, with issues like this you have to take it apart first, see what's broke, then replace those pieces. I believe this issue is outside a simple Valve Body swap and common parts kit.

@@GVR1670you seem pretty knowledgeable and may be of help to me . I have only the code P0716 , and it only appears at random . When it appears I lose 1,3,5 R , if I turn car off and on again the gears come back and I can drive with all gears for minutes or hours till it happens again . What the hell do I need to be doing ? I had removed my valve body to look at it and swap it with a mechatronic I was told was working , but the issue still persists but I did notice the one bore plug on the side of valve body was sticking out passed the edge of valve body and I’ve been told that one is a common failure and it controls the line pressure . Could this be my issue ? Maybe it’s not getting correct pressure and throws out my odd gears ( generally P0716 shows it’s ugly face when I’m driving in first gear )
@GVR1670
@GVR1670 10 ай бұрын
@@jordancleal6380 hello! Your issue is likely the valve body, not the mechatronic. The valves begin to wear into the bore of the valve body casing and will get stuck. When they do this it will begin to push that plug out that you mentioned and it also raises the pressures in the trans to dangerously high levels. Your valve body needs to be torn down, the valve bores honed out to clean them up and new oversized valves installed that are larger in diameter to fit the new space. We had to design and build specific equipment just to do this right. It’s something that is precise and needs to be perfect or the trans will not work. As you can see in the video pic, we do a lot of valve bodies here and we do them right. Boring and honing with larger valves, updated solenoids, correct gaskets that won’t blow out, correct o-rings and billet plugs will assure the valve body will live and function as it should. If you would like to have yours rebuilt we would be more than happy to do it. Fully updated with our parts it will last longer than a new one from the dealer and it’s still half the price for our services over a new one. Don’t be fooled by the valve body ‘rebuild kits’ you see online. It will do nothing to cure your issue and will make your VB worse. It takes specialized equipment and knowledge to get them right and we got these all figured out no matter what the issue. If it’s in the valve body, it’ll be fixed with our rebuild. www.jackstransmissions.com/transmission-services/sst-dct470/sst-dct470-2/p-810-mechatronic-valve-body-assembly-rebuild-service-sst-dct470

Whoever rebuilt it didn't do it right. Either they reused the OEM 2/4 fork and it has failed (they have a high failure rate), or they replaced the fork with aftermarket and it was not installed correctly. Some aftermarket forks are near impossible to align correctly on install and create constant fork issues. Our forks are aligned and tested before we ship/install them. Our forks have the same magnetic footprint and strength of the OEM magnets. Make for a much better product for a flawless trouble free install.
