If anyone is interested the novel "THE LAST LIGHTS OF St KILDA" is especially good ...... This book paints an amazing portrait of the Place .....

Snedge the Snowy Owl has been resident for about 6 years I think, clearly the mice population keeps her rather happy. There are also fairly often Short Eared Owls spotted presumably across from the Uists. Lots of interesting stuff turns up on St Kilda, must be due to the wind! Just this week the NTS seabird ranger posted that they counted 27 Woodcock and 15 Jacksnipe along with a flock of 500 Redwing passing through.

Brilliant so always something to see by the sound of it .... Nature is still surprising
