My husband and I just took a trip to Las Vegas and visited the Mob Museum. We saw the brick wall, some photos of the massacre and some of the bullets that we’re removed from the bodies. The museum was pretty interesting, there’s a lot to see. I recommend visiting there if you’re in Las Vegas.

I always remember the poor dog that was there during the massacre. His name was Highball and he belonged to John May the mob members mechanic who was also killed. It was his constant barking that brought neighbors to the gruesome scene. He was so traumatized they eventually had to put him down. Today would be a different story but being it was 1929...Sad.

I lived in Chicago for years, and I often heard people talk about how dogs were skittish in that part of the street, even refusing to walk past the area, even though the garage itself was gone.

I had seen a program that was covering the autopsies of the victims and it was found that some of them ( maybe all ) had chest wounds resulting from the . 45 caliber bullets bouncing off the wall and re - entering their bodies . Great vid. A historian girl on PBS’s “History Detectives” got to shoot one of the two Thompson machine guns ballistically linked to the massacre. she was trying to verify if a shotgun she was investigating was the one also used. She made a compelling case that it was.

My cousin has worked there for 11 years & unfortunately people mess with it CONSTANTLY. 2x/week a crew is dedicated to adding grass/grass seed, or adjusting the mud in front of his grave (due to weather.) Soooo many people constantly visit his stone (among others, but he's obviously #1) IDK why they made his grave so easy to get to and access, but the traffic never slows down. I have family buried there and it never fails to get worse around the holidays when people are going to visit their loved ones. I guess they feel like "hey, why not check out Capones grave while were here...."

I live on Miami Beach, FL and I have been to his home here on Miami Beach where he died in 1947. Sadly, the demolition permit have been submitted for his Florida home to be demolished by the new owners in 2023. It's sad that a piece of history will be gone.

When the Massacre site was being demolished in 1967 or 1968,the demolition crew was giving away some of the bricks.My Family had two of them.The site itself was up for Landmark Status,but then Mayor Daley demanded it be torn down.Daley didn,t want any reminders of Capone in Chicago.Mr.Capone himself actually might still be buried at Mt.Olivet.According to historians and my High School History teacher.The Grave stone at Queen of Heaven might be a Cenopath.Who really can say where he really is?Great Video Mike and Jessica,great seeing videos from My old hometown.

Great video, as always! My grandmother's neighbor was in Bugs Moran's gang and supposedly just missed the massacre because he was late. One of the few that survived that lifestyle and lived to old age.

I am intrigued by the mobsters of the 20s and 30s. I grew up in Dallas, Texas. We lived a mile from Bonnie Parker’s old school. A bunch of us kids would go to that school and play around not knowing it’s history.

I was born and raised in Chicago. I absolutely loved growing up. Cool , old buildings, great museums and the best food. I moved in 2007 because I got tired of the frigid winters. Fun Fact: Al Capones older brother James Vincenzo Capone who changed his name to Richard James Hart was a prohibition agent. So you had a Capone on each side of the law.

Another great video. Lots of mobsters in Mt Carmel. So glad you mentioned the wall being in the Mob Museum in Las Vegas. It is really amazing to see. I think that museum is one of the best museums anywhere. If you haven’t been, it’s a must see when in Vegas. You can actually still eat at Capones favorite restaurant in Chicago. Very cool place, lots of Capone stuff to see there. Good food too!
