Please confirm you sewed the binding nearest the colorful section of the quilt. On my phone it sort of looked like the outer edge on my phone. I really enjoyed this project. Thank you.

Great binding technique! Just a tip - you'll greatly reduce the tension wrinkles between your quilting lines and your quilt will be smoother if you quilt all your lines in the same direction. So quilt one line from top to bottom, cut thread, reposition quilt and stitch the next line from top to bottom. You can start from the middle and work your way to the first edge. Then rotate your quilt 180 degrees and quilt out from the middle to the other edge. When you make a quilting line, you are dragging the fabric ever so slightly in the direction of the stitching. If you rotate and stitch the other direction, you pull the fabric a little in the other direction. This makes tension wrinkles in between the stitching lines. Sometimes there's no choice in how you quilt and sometimes it's an affect you want, but it's why the wrinkles are there.
@staceyleecreative
@staceyleecreative 2 жыл бұрын
Interesting. I was always taught you turn to reduce the drag. Thanks for the info. I also didn’t want to constantly stop and start since you see it with this binding.

@@staceyleecreative Yes, it could show on the back. For a charity quilt I would use the lock stitch or neatly backstitch. If I'm giving the quilt to friends or family, I make the thread tails on each end of the quilt line long. Then I bring both threads to the top, tie a knot, and bury the ends in the quilt. It does take a lot longer, but the result is very nice - I've been working to convince myself that I enjoy ALL aspects of creating a quilt, even the repetitive, boring parts, lol.

I wish I would have watched this yesterday! I’ve already cut and stitched around my blanket. My binding will be thick but I’ll follow the miter corner instruction. I watched simply for the self binding but the whole quilt process is so easy to follow. It’s inspired me. Thank you! Taping the fabric to the table is brilliant. 😊

That's not really a self-binding quilt, BUT.. it is exactly the method I needed to know! I have been trying to figure out how to finish a quilt that I had started and didn't want to make a separate binding for!😊❤

Tip: U can chain stitch together all the strips without having to stop to cut threads after each strip. Cut them apart when all strips all together
