I have blurred the birth scene because of KZbin, not for anyone else’s sake or because people are “weak”. Reactors have had their videos blocked on the platform because of this scene and I do not want mine to suffer the same fate so I am taking precautions. It has nothing to do with differences in culture or society becoming weaker - it’s literally just so my video I worked hard on can stay up for people to enjoy. That is all.

This song always makes me well up. I listened to the Zeit album so much around the time my son was born, it would play in my ears as I sat trying to soothe him back to sleep in the night. Often it'd be playing as he slept on me, refusing to sleep anywhere else. The line "everyone knows the perfect moment" would hit me hard every time because I knew I was there in it, cradling this beautiful child. My son is now two years old but this song always takes me back to those perfect moments of early bonding. He still likes to have a nap on me but I know there will be a day when that's no longer the case. It will be beautiful to watch him grow but sad to lose those moments to time.

This song captures my greatest fear in a way nothing ever has. The idea of me not being able to be there for my daughter scares me more than anything ever has. I find that in those “perfect moments” I have to make sure I totally focus on that moment. Not letting my fear guide me to the idea that the moment will end or that I may never get that chance again. I’d never had that feeling before becoming a parent. But the song doesn’t make me sad. As you said, it’s reminder to make sure we appreciate the time we do have instead of what we might have missed or lost. It’s a powerful message.

I am so excited for you to see Rammstein live this summer in Italy. Trust me from experience, they're the best live band you will experience and you will love every minute of it. I am so excited for you! Also, that's not the Grim Reaper. They are the 3 Norns of the Nordic legend. They embody "that which was, that which is and that which will be". Translatable as past, present, future. I also interpreted the blindfolds as "we can't see the end of our time", blind to our future and our own end.

In my opinion, probably the most beautiful song the band has created. But the subject matter... The fleeting time we all have left. The fact that it's also natural and inevitable. If this will be your first Rammstein concert, it'll change you forever, especially if you're close to the stage where you can feel the fire. The video uses sand to indicate time, and I find it interesting that the band members reacted differently when they were being hit by the sand. Till was fighting it with everything he had while Richard just kind of stood there and took it. Oliver, the bassist and the one who lost the daughter at the end of the video, had his back to time as though he was choosing not to even acknowledge its existence. It's possible that the tall black cloaked figures were the Norns from Norse Mythology. Urd (the past), Verdandi (the present), and Skuld (the future). This goes along well with the subject of time. It's not a surprise that this same record ends with a song called "Adieu" which means "Goodbye". The video for it is rather haunting if you break down the meaning behind every one of the visuals and what they mean to you the viewer.

As others have mentioned - I do find it both funny & sad that images of birth, while graphic, need to be blurred out (for blocking reasons - I understand), but graphic violence goes without issue! Strange society we live in. Rammstein has a unique ability to say things in a profound way, and put it to amazing music! So many of their songs are like this - so it's always worth seeing the lyrics in English to fully comprehend their message, then sit back and rock out! Cheers!

When you actually understand what the meaning is it hits you whole different way. I understood it the very moment it was uploaded, saying to myself that maybe i should finally do something with the time i still have with the few people that reman that i actually care for. And sure enough.. nearly like it was foretold. A year later my dad passes away out of nowhere a month after we celebrated his birthday. Suddenly you get all those things you missed out on smashed into your face. To elaborate. I never were in good shoes with my dad. From childhood on i head trouble in school, because of bullying even from my teachers side. But my dad refused to believe it. That made me leave my father the day my mom moved out and i moved with her when i was just 11 years old. While i did have it easier in school, my dad still refused to believe that it was the reason why i messed up in school so much. But he also refused to help me financially, since he always said: "You always can come and live at home here, you then have someone who drives you to school." (Which i did try out and sure enough the person who were supposed to get me to school each morning messed up already on her first day, it was the new girlfriend of my father.) To give some context. My father was blind. Literally. He lost his eyes in an accident and was 100% blind. That never stopped him from work though. He even was in charge of a union for blind people lower bavaria. (Bayerischer Blinden- und Sehbehindertenbund Niederbayern or in english Bavarian Union for blinds and visually impaired people) Only once i turned like 20 i started to come around myself and realize that my father never meant to harm me, he was trying to reach out himself somewhat, but my father always had this.. inability to show emotions and such, something surely i picked up from him. He never was big into the whole stuff about loving your family and such, even if he did, he never wanted to hear it. So surely around 2014 i was renovating the outside of his house and we more and more got to talk about everything that happened in life. And of course only then i finally thawed to the whole reason WHY he refused to give me the money. Not that it was a good reason and in terms of the law he was in the wrong, but it was simply because he knew i could have become something better if i would have just started to listen to him. But that was also the day he understood me. He understood that i wasn't him. I am not a workaholic. I am not dead set in life to success. I just want to enjoy life itself. (At least i still try, having a really hard time.) So the more and more we talked over the years, the more he finally felt like a father to me. If you would have asked me back then with 8 to 19 years old i would have told you that i hate my dad. Around 20 to 25 i would have said i feel indifferent. Only around 26 i started to feel that regardless of what happened, that i do love him regardless. And here is where it all comes together. Neither did he ever told me nor did i ever tell him. At least i never did that face to face. I tried to reach out somewhat in an Email but he as always waved it off so to say. He never told me he was proud of me about anything. And sure enough i can't even remember that i ever hugged him. And that is something that gnaws on me now till my own death. That feeling of remorse and regret. Missed out time. Missed out so many moments that could have been important. And i never will get it in any shape or form. Even in my dreams if i do dream about my father, the very moment i realize it that i could at least there try to do it, my brain won't let me. I wake up the very instant i get one step too close to my dad in my dreams. I'm 34 in two days. It's been a year since he passed away out of nowhere. And not a day since has gone by where i wasn't blaming myself that i messed up, even when so many people tell me i didn't do anything wrong or not everything. I still know i did mess up. And i will forever hate myself for that. If you want it from a different point of view. His mother and therefore my grandmother i was always on good terms with and while she was still alive she always tried to tell me that he doesn't mean it like it comes off often. And sure enough she knew herself that next time won't exist, so that last day i was visiting her, she ASKED me to please hug her. Of course i didn't hesitate a moment and did so.

Just getting around to seeing this video. Just wanted to say your reaction is amazing. When this song came out, I had the same reaction. I consider this song and video to be Rammstein's Magnum Opus. And that's saying something next to some of their other just absolutely incredible videos and songs (particularly Deutschland). This video and song are pure ART. Both the song and video are poetry. The crazy part is, if it weren't for Covid, we would not have this incredible masterpiece. They worked on this album while everyone was in lockdown. And holy shit that was time extremely well spent on their part.

Very beautifull. Me as a Rammstein fan (German) had heared this song also for the first time and i had also instantly start to cry. This is such a deep Song. Many of their songs are very deep but this sets a new level.

Your comments at the end really resonated with me. Also I'm glad you watched this with subtitles. Always sad when reactors miss out on important lyrics.

I saw them in Atlanta in 2012. The best concert I've ever seen in my 56 years. Every video has so much production and deep meaning. You better like fire as they are the best in concert and fire is center most. Till is an expert pryrotechcian so gird your loins. 😁

The fact that they used "Sands" to resemble "sands of time" it's too good....TOO GOOOD!!!

As Einstein said time is in the eye of the observer. That certainly makes an impression as an onlooker, an amazing video; and Rammstein have had many. Great review, thank you.
