before I became a firefighter/paramedic, I worked for a private 911 ambulance service for a few years, and I can tell you I couldn't wait to leave that service for a myriad of reasons - low pay, crappy health insurance, low morale, high turnover, a system status management (where you sit in a parking lot between calls in a cramped, uncomfortable ambulance cab in all kinds of weather,) constant push from management to pick up extra shifts, etc, etc, etc. More than anything, I love being a paramedic. I consider it an honor to be able to wear a firefighter's badge, love the guys on my crew, and know I have it so much better now in the fire service than I did in the private sector. EMS is a rough line of work, and the way some private EMS agencies treat their employees, doesn't help.

Its time to put the Contracted EMT and ALS in Fire Stations throughout the City. No more parking in a bank lot, behind Taco Bell, (oh that's the 3 letter company). EMS Personnel are exhausted if they sit in a running Ambulance all day. It would be equivalent of driving to Fresno at 25 mph.

Most likely will need to bring up the wages. Medics will jump ship to a Fire Service if they are even halfway decent.

What part of national shortage of medical workers are people not getting. There are zero applications being put in everywhere. Hospitals are closing floors due to staffing and ambulance services across the nation are closing stations due to staffing.

If I remember right, they got acquired by Rural Metro, which became AMR, which lost the contract to Falck

I know a retired San Diego engineer who once told me that they'd work overtime on the ambulance occasionally when Rural/Metro contracted with San Diego Fire and they'd be paid time and a half. I wonder if that's the case with Falck's contract.

How much did Falck donate to Todd Gloria's election campaign?

Drop the vaccine mandate, pay EMT’s $19-$24/hr and paramedics $23-$30/hr of money isn’t the issue 🤷♀️🤷♀️ shitty wage= less or no applications, high turnovers, little to no morale or even the will to want to be there. Do better Falck

Paramedics don’t want overtime, they want to be paid a living San Diego wage and enjoy mental downtime so they can take care of others in the days, months, and years to come.
