Just crossed paths with this song earlier this year... I was going thru really, really hurtful and scary sh*t (my girl and me were told she probably had breast cancer). It was the scariest sh*t for me since I lost my very first love back in 2014 in a car accident. One day, my boss played this one on his PC and I got immediately engaged with it and relieved. Unfortunately, this girl, who I loved with all of my being, treated me like sh*t right after we knew she was danger free and is no longer my girlfriend since July (three days right before I became 23). We'd been friends for +3 years and now we're gone forever. Really hard for me to let her go, but I couldn't take her attitude anymore. This song is still with me, tho, reminding me how I used to feel when I was still her boyfriend and how much effort I put in for the relationship to work. Life hits hard in so many ways...

This is my life Its not what it was before All these feelings I've shared And these are my dreams That I'd never lived before Somebody shake me 'Cause I I must be sleeping Now that we're here It's so far away All the struggle we thought was in vain All in the mistakes One life contained They all finally start to go away Now that we're here it's so far away And I feel like I can face the day, and I can forgive And I'm not ashamed to be the person that I am today These are my words That I've never said before I think I'm doing okay And this is the smile That I've never shown before Somebody shake me 'cause I I must be sleeping Now that we're here It's so far away All the struggle we thought was in vain All in the mistakes One life contained They all finally start to go away Now that we're here it's so far away And I feel like I can face the day, and I can forgive And I'm not ashamed to be the person that I am today I'm so afraid of waking Please don't shake me Afraid of waking Please don't shake me Now that we're here It's so far away All the struggle we thought was in vain All in the mistakes One life contained They all finally start to go away Now that we're here it's so far away And I feel like I can face the day, and I can forgive And I'm not ashamed to be the person that I am today

I remember first hearing this song on the UPN promo for the short-lived primetime fiction/sci-fi drama "Jake 2.0", also from late 2003. Totally forgot about it, but I remembered searching the internet back then for the lyrics, but it was so new, that I couldn't find anything! lol.
