I am American, I remember pulling into Darwin Harbour New Year’s Eve, and aside from being hot.. There were massive salties just cruising in the harbour. Never saw anything like that in my life, and haven’t since…

Never been to Darwin but an old bloke from nth QLD was telling me when it gets stinking hot , the crocs will come from the rivers into the ocean > cooler water temperature !

I spent roughly 3 months in Darwin many years ago. Great place, but the sea is absolutely deadly.

The croc does not leave you...true love...

That crock knows fishermen leave scraps so it waits for the left overs . But keep fishing there and it will set up and wait for you to become complacent and give yourself to it and it will have a go at you. They are patient. The next time you see it might be from the side as it has figured you out an comes from that area you are not looking for it . Nice video .

This is a nice video, I'm guessing you were at Gunn Point. However I think you did put yourself in harms way just a little bit.

surfing near a rivermouth in costa rica once, I noticed a log floating in the water, about 100m from me, didnt think anything of it, until I noticed that the current, which I was battling to stay in one place, wasn't effecting the "log", and in fact was now about 50m from me and holding position, and a few minutes later about 25m.... THATS when I realized what it was, and what it was was NOT a log LOL

He is just one of a half dozen reasons not to go in the water up that way . I’ve camp at that spot for a few nights in a big group myself, top spot a 👍🍺❤️🇦🇺
@IndefiniteLeave2 жыл бұрын
Agree, I didn't go in but at low tide, as you prob know, you can drive across. We did see people turning up on day trips swimming in there. Very safe at low tide from crocs but it's the stingers that worry me. Agree, great spot, we loved it :)

I absolutely love darwin. I've been called stupid for swimming in the water🤷♂️ There's also an abnormal amount of jellyfish at the beach. Super clear water though
@IndefiniteLeave Жыл бұрын
Haha. Yep box jellyfish are probably your biggest issue there but not sure I'd swim in the ocean in Darwin either. 😁

It’s not the croc you can see that you have to worry about. Famous last words. Let’s see how close I can get. There are some monster crocs at Gun Point.
@IndefiniteLeave2 жыл бұрын
That's very true, plenty around up there. We'd been there awhile though, our friends we were with had been there months. At low tide people were swimming right where I was. We had a pretty good read on it but just in case I made sure I had space all around me :) Thanks heaps for watching.

What can you carry for croc defense in Australia, God forbid one manages to grab ya?
@IndefiniteLeave10 ай бұрын
If a Salt Water Croc grabs you in the water there's not a lot you can do. While it's death rolling you you can try getting to it's eyes or punching it's snout but that's very difficult as they throw you around trying to rip limbs off. Best bet is not to get yourself in that position in the first place :)

Where we live in Canada people’s cats and small dogs go missing too….coyotes get them even within city limits. But crocs are one scary reptile and your poison snakes…
