Please refresh our memory with the s54 swap stuff you figured out. If I remember correctly you were one of the first to do an s54 swap on an e36. After a full rebuild on my s50 on first start up my throttle cable stuck wide open and skipped timing (upgraded hydraulic chain tensioner) which blew the engine. I'm considering an s54 swap but I need to love the engine first before I commit to it.
@stanceworks2 жыл бұрын
It is one of the first s54 swaps for sure. The only downside is the swap information is so radically different these days. Mine is antiquated. It’s just an e46 underneath, versus having EWS3 and all that stuff flashed out. Back then the simplified tunes and such weren’t possible

The ZKW's clean really good and look almost like new. They are designed well (better then the rest of OE headlights) and don't brake inside nearly as often as Bosch or Hella. Plus, they don't burn the reflectors like the non-projector headlights do. Personally, I would clean them and store them.

The 3.91 should work perfect with the 6 speed. My former employer had that on his M3 touring ;) So funny how different this car is to my (323ti) former car. The whole rear end is completely different. If you ever have the opportunity to drive one, check it out. For my likings the best chassis on the E36. I stumbled upon it a while ago, while searching a car for my ex. She had a 316 compact, while she was on university. After graduating she wanted some bigger car and choose the 323ti (in my experience, women love hatchbacks). So I looked here in Switzerland, yo find mainly better serviced and better equipped cars.. Drove one in Graubuenden, deep in the heart of Switzerland. Fell in love and told her, I don't care if you want the car or not, I'll buy it. It turned out that we bought another car (Avusblue 323ti- non M bumpers) in Landshut (where BMW manufactures the 3 series) and a Avusblue, M bumpoered, 323ti for me. Loved that car to bits, should have never sold it.

Try doing that gas tank by yourself with the car on jackstands and then talk to me lol - use new 12.9 cap screws on the axles and buy the $50 axle puller/installer set. You’ll thank me later when those gkn axles break. I did the whole e46 330 setup on the rear instead of the e36 m3 cause brakes are plenty bigger, you get the bigger bearings and the trailing arms are easy to get. Works out good. Parking brakes work fine with e36 cables with slight mods to the clips. Another thing is you may find that those offset control arm bushings are too much. They are fine for non M arms but the M arms have the increased caster built in and use centered bushings. If you are using 96+ m3 arms and you find the wheel is way far forward, that’s why.
