Tutorial of a Wolf Stand Idle Game Animation, animated in 3ds Max in CAT. Animation is often not that hard as it seems and even in this tutorial you can find out how to learn animation even as a beginner.
3ds Max CAT (Character Animation Toolkit) is an animation system inside Max that offers a lot of useful features.

Hey there, I started learning about quadruped animation for games and it turns out to be way more tricky than I thought. Your tutorials do help a LOT! Especially for getting an idea of how it all works together. If you have the time it would be awesome, if you could make a short video in which you show how you model a quadruped and what's important when modelling a quadruped for animation/games (like how many polygons with lowpoly, where to put cuts/edge loops, etc.) So, thanks again for you great work! =)

Ok, why when I rotate pelvis it only rotates pelvis, while in the video when he rotates pelvis it moves entire body even the head a bit at approx 3:00 ?????

There are several ways to do it, but probably the easiest is: - Select the bone of bone chain you want to copy - Right click -> Save Pose - Select the bone of bone chain you want to paste it to - Right click -> Load Pose

Basically, Autodesk doesn't legally allow you to use older versions of 3ds Max then 3 (I think) versions back. I was avoiding the upgrade, because I was used to 2014 and worked with it for a long time. However, it had to come one day anyway, so why not now :). Another thing is, that if/when these videos will be watched in 5 years for example, they will feel more relevant to people watching them. When they see 2014 version, they might think it's too old or that things changed a lot since then. Even when they didn't. It will happen with 2018 as well of course, but maybe not to such extend.

CAT is very attractive But I have seen a negative evaluation of it Do you know about it? And is it possible to overcome it?

Hey. I have said it several times on different places already. CAT gets a lot of hate for no particular reason. People say it has a lot of bugs, but it doesn't (it has some, but so does the rest of 3ds Max). People say it's unstable, but it's not (it can crash sometimes, but again, so does the 3ds Max without using CAT). We have used CAT in full video game production for released titles and it worked really well, without any major problems. People just say that CAT is bad because they heard it's bad. No other particular reason :)
