Hey @JAG11117777 Happy to help, If you are riding 80 to 100% of the time 2-up, you can really get away with a 130 spring as well, even that is softer in feel than stock suspension. This is the content I needed to gain the clarity to ease my worries about choosing one rate or another and wishing otherwise down the road. Detailing the geometry of a Dyna and the angle of the shocks, it sounds like HD spring rate tends to come into play a lot more easily. Now I feel less concerned going that direction, all things considered. Thank you.

Hey Jesse, Thanks for the comment. Yes in most cases on the Dyna we tend to recommend the Heavy Duty spring rate more often due to that shock angle and the leverage. We do offer spring swaps as well so you never have to worry about being stuck with something that just does not work for you.

Chris, Our Heavy Duty spring rate is still lighter than stock Harley, With the suspension sag set correctly on your shocks it should be smooth sailing for you. I have a 2005 dyna low rider my factory socks ride like a tank im 320 lbs my bike bottoms out with them adjusted all the up. My girlfriend only around 140 lbs she can’t ride with me with that shock.

Feel like I wasted $1000 bucks going ARC 130HD with about 250lbs norm. Have coils cranked down to last 1/2 inch and set on 2.. just to get best I think I’ll get. Not hearing/seeing “500lbs” when looking at buying, left me feeling fk’d. Also, turning those springs by hand, even with lube sprayed, it’s a FKN BITCH to turn them up or down. Should just use a fkn tool. ultra classic. The gold scraps off/in threads also.

Haven’t personally ridden with legend suspension because I’m skeptical. Seen allot of people run it! I’m 280, wife’s 180 on a Dyna low rider. Looking at 14 inch shocks. She only rides about 20/30 percent of the time the rest of the time it’s balls to the wall riding. What do you offer?

Hey Justin, Thank you for the comment. We offer the Revo, Revo-A or Revo-ARC (Piggyback) all in 14" for the Dyna Low Rider depending on the year. On the Dyna due to the shock angle, we recommend the Heavy-Duty spring rate on this application, especially if you are riding 2-up sometimes. The Revo-ARC will have adjustable compression and rebound. The Revo-A will have adjustable rebound. The Revo will have a fixed Rebound setting on setting 3 which is a great middle ground for comfort and performance. If you are riding really aggressive, we recommend the Revo-ARC Piggyback! but the Revo-A will do the trick for you as well. What about a sportster converted to touring + heavy rider riding solo 50% and the other 50% 2 up with luggage . Can I get a HD spring rate and then not need to set sag and preload ?

KT, If you want to not have to adjust the sag on your shocks you could run the HD spring rate and then adjust the preload for the heaviest weight you will have on the bike, but then when you remove the passenger or other weight the spring might be a little firm since it does not know the weight is not on the bike unless you tell it. But you technically could get your sag with that full weight then essentially be good to go, other than it might not ride optimal under all the time, but We think you could find a good happy medium. Most folks do.

Depending on the length you have and where your suspension sag is set, you can alter this a bit. You can run up to 1-1/4" sag on the Mono shock Softails. If you have any questions on that please email [e-mail].

Hey there, we currently have several mono shock Softail options. 12.5" 13" and 13.5" models all in standard or heavy-duty spring rates. Standard spring rates are normally good to 350lbs, but we often recommend HD spring rate for spirited riding, any 2-up riding or if you carry extra weight so you do not have to add as much preload. Hello Brad, on the ultra we would recommend sticking to the 13 length that comes stock on the bike and yes you could get away with an HD spring rate, the preload can be adjusted up or down to reach your desired suspension sag. If you were looking to switch to a 12" shock for any reason, then we would recommend a standard spring rate. You also, always have the option to spring swap at any time as well if your riding changed. If you do decide to add a passenger or even additional gear on a trip the HD spring rate will serve you well. There isn't a wild amount of difference between the 110 standard, or 130 Heavy Duty spring rate and the HD spring is preferred by many different riders depending on preference. At a cursory glance, dyna and sportster suspensions appear similar. Do you also recommend heavy duty spring rates for sportster?

Great question, generally we do not recommend the HD spring on Sportster as often. The shock geometry on the Dyna is far more drastic and creates more leverage to compress the shocks. The Sportster is a good bit more upright and does not suffer the same leverage ratio. On a Sportster, unless you are riding 2-up often like 50% of the time or more or are regularly in the 275-300lbs range then the standard spring would be the way to go on Sportster. ESPECIALLY if you are looking at 12" shocks as those springs have an additional 1" of preload on them from the start since the 12" and 13" springs are the same. Legends Offer several different spring rates?? What were all the rates?? I only hear you guys talk about only 2 in all the videos I've seen. What spring rate would be recommended to dial in the best ride on a 12" Revo A, for 150# total load on a FLH model? On my 2021 street glide, and 12" Ohlin HD-039, the springs are marked 885, and I have those back up (softened) to the 2 final threads so I'm wondering about these 110 springs you call standard.. I fear I will not be able to reach 1/2 inch sag with them. These Revo A's I'm going to try are going on my 2020 Road King. I've already modified the front suspension on both the bikes

Hello, we do offer the 110 spring and we use a longer and lighter spring rate than just about anyone else so it does handle quite a light rider or weight, however we do offer a 90# spring, this is for light riders who maybe cannot get the sag set with the 110 springs. Legend Suspensions is distributed through Drag Specialties, and they carry the 110 and 130 HD spring. the 90# spring would need to be put on directly with Legend Suspensions. @@LegendSuspensions Ok thanks for the reply, and I think was right advice, and for those that are in the same boat as I, and wondering.. I put the 12" Revo A's, adjusted to the last 2-3 threads, on my 2020 Road King (No extra weight on the bike), and after dropping the bike off the jack, I did get 1/4" sag, and then with my 140# weight in the seat, I got another 1/4 sag.. all seems to be good with the 110 spring, though I haven't tried the ride out yet.. I'll be comparing with base 12" Ohlins and 13" Bitubo twin adjustable (which I used with 1" lowering blocks)

Generally, on a Dyna for this kind of riding and most uses the HD spring rate is recommended. The Dyna's have a steep shocks geometry, and this gives the rider a lot of leverage on the shocks to compress them easier. You can sure go with 110's and if for some reason you needed to, they can be swapped. But if you are riding super aggressive and or possibly 2-up at all. HD spring rate is what we recommend.

The Revo, Revo-A and Revo-ARC are all great options and can be considered direct replacements for you. If you want a straight up great replacement, way more comfortable shock that can be set and not really touched again, the Revo is great, if you think a little bit of adjustment range would be nice for different days of riding from cruising to canyons, the Revo-A is a great option. The Revo-ARC will give more travel, as well and compression and rebound adjustment, a lot of times it comes down to what level of comfort and performance you want or need, what level of adjustment do you like. The 13" Revo-A is hands down the fan favorite shock. at 320 you could honestly go either way and have the Standard spring rate or the Heavy Duty spring rate, they will both work perfectly, If you really do not add a lot of weight to the bike other than you and some gear, the 110 Standard is great. If you plan to load heavy like 100 lbs or more than the HD spring would be nice for you. We offer spring rate changes at any point should your riding change, we even offer length conversions as well so you will never be stuck with something that just does not work for you.

That is a great question. A lot of it will boil down to personal preference. The main things the Revo-ARC will offer over the Revo-A are. 13" Revo-A has 3" of travel where the 13" Revo-ARC will have 3.5" so you get additional travel and, on a bike, where you do not get a lot of travel to begin with, anytime you can add it, it does help. The Revo-A will have a 6-position rebound adjuster. Revo-ARC will have 7. Revo-ARC will also have 7 positions of compression adjustment. Those additional ARC features really allow you a larger range of adjustment and to be a bit pickier when it comes to the settings you like. The Revo or Revo-A will 9 times out of 10 be absolutely all you need and will far outperform your expectations. The Revo-ARC, if you like the looks, like the additional adjustment, or feel you are a bit picky with how you want your bike to ride. Standard spring rate you can run to right about 450-500lbs We recommend if you are 450-500lbs 50% of the time or more to go with HD Heavy Duty springs. Those will take you to Max GVW of the bike. We always have spring swaps as an option as well so you will never end up with something that does not work for you!

You could be 98lbs and that suspension wouldn’t do the trick. Not sure why HD still puts trash suspensions on most of these bikes. I went standard on my 07 sportster. 235lb and works a lot better.

Just make sure if you are running max suspension sag and add a passenger than you adjust the preload on the springs to account for the added weight, or run the preload at less than max so when you do have a passenger you both do not push the shocks outside the max range.
