Nice easy route this day. Road walks are ok when you can eat like that at a diner! I think that phone cord was part of a crime scene! LOL. Lucky to get the tarps up before the rain. That is tough to be sick while on the trail especially when you are fir hosing out both ends. Dang! Too bad about the torn hammock. That makes for a rough night. Sounds like you are feeling better. Take care and have a great day.

Walking on the road through town while on the road walk made it better. There were a couple stops for food and snacks. We just beat the rain but man did we get hammered with a huge storm in the night. Luckily we were at a shelter when his hammock tore. That’s the first time I was sick on trail.

Awesome part two Dan! Bummer you guys were that sick. Didn’t realize how bad it was. Seemed to stick around with ya for a bit. Great call cutting it and playing it safe 👍

Thanks Dave! To be honest, if the weather was going to be nice I may have kept going even feeling sick but they were calling for steady rain the next two days after this one so that would have been miserable.

I’m a big fan of just using a canister. Tried them all and a canister by far is my favorite. Little canister last forever too. Great dinner at the Diner. That was a great idea to stop by there. Those storms with lightning can be scary, especially when we’re tied to trees Sounds like you two caught a stomach virus. Hope your feeling better and I enjoyed the video 👍🏻👍🏻

Thanks Jason! I felt better once I was off trail so it had to be something I ate. The only new food was those protein pastry things I recently started eating on trail. I like my canister setup. Faster and easier but I do like my alcohol stove. No moving parts and lighter but canisters are easier by far in my opinion. I’ll stick with it for a while.

Even if you abort ship... 2 days of hiking and being able to stop for steak, wings, and mashed potatoes with gravy is such a big win, imo!😂 I've been at that diner before, and it's great there!

Yeah. We are thinking that as well. Even being sick the two nights out in the woods was great. The town food was outstanding and big morale booster. I wish most trails went through a town.

The old phone cord had me laughing! Why is that there?!

I laughed when I saw it. It was just on the side of the road at a random spot. Lol

Heh I'm old enough to remember having a rotary phone and hating friends who have a 0 or 9 in their phone number. Oh man chafing is the worst. That sucks both of you got sick. Glad there was a way to bail out safely.

Me too. The old rotary. My kids wouldn’t know what that is. lol. My number had 3 9s in it. I think there are lots of places on this trail to easily bail on. Luckily we were at the shelter when Dakota’s hammock tore.

Road walking is not easy, it's all challenging in different ways! The water carry must have been what made you guys feel so terrible and or beat down on the 1st day.

The only good thing about the road walks is you can go faster and not feel like you are missing anything. Long water carries on this trail for sure! No matter which direction. It will be even worse in a month or so if we get hot weather and the rain slows down. The water sources on that trail are mostly seasonal so they dry up.
