No body and I really mean no body has played bass like this guy before or after. As great as everyone knows he is I still think he's underrated.

Legendary groundbreaker and innovator. Once Stanley Clark got that Alembic bass in the seventies, that was it. Like Billy Cobham and his legendary clear Fibes double bass set. Spectrum album.

Nice. I thought it was an Alembic. Billy is a fave, glad I experienced his skills live

The first 6 seconds of this Dave Letterman clip was a snippet of the song “Cosmic Slop” by the group Funkadelic. Lol! You have to have been old enough to have caught!

The reason bass players the world over started playing chord progressions! From Marcus Miller, to Ol' Les Claypool..

Phil Lesh played chords years before Stanley. Poor Lesh is underrated

Even how Claypool attacks the chords is very Stanley Clarke influenced.

Stellar innovater of the bass, this is fantastic footage would have liked to hear more of Will Lee but Stanley played in Dublin Ireland a while ago, gave the monitor engineer a lot of uncalled for flack during his upright solo, which was amazing. Only saying.
@ShangoDC
@ShangoDC 5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, Stanley is various serious about his sound. I saw him walk off the stage, because the engineer could get his sound right back 1988.

Exactly! Those guys are all incredible musicians. Yeah, we know it's hard to beat Mr. Clarke on bass, but these guys like you said, "[C]an back up just about ANYBODY." The guy that you replied, is obviously an idiot, who doesn't understand music. I feel as though they new where to be at the right time and it was a great performance.
