This has got to be one of the greatest solos of all time. A beginning, a middle and and end. It is what is missing from 90 percent of all solos. Stanley you rock!

the track school days is from the album 'school days', the bass-ic collection is, as its name suggests, a compilation of Stanley's music, primarily as a bassist and composer.

GREAT ONE! Everyone, stop defending your favourite musicians! Whether people think it's good or bad, that's how they feel and nothing you will say will change that. Why get drawn into a senseless argument? Look how many support these comments get? It distracts from the music whenever I read them, but I like to see what people say. It's becoming more and more of a toss-up whether I should read or not. Also, ignore comments that you think are stupid or inane or badly spelled or all three!

@bunchOcookies Alembic...Ugly??? I guess everyone has an opinion but DAMN!! Go to Alembic website and check out some of the most beautiful, playable pieces of art that exist. It is an instrument to hand down for generations. I have played/owned every bass known to man (and some maybe not) and Alembic is without a doubt one of the best. Don't get me wrong, I love my 40 yr old P bass, and wouldn't take 10 grand for it, but I would be proud to own an Alembic.

@4to88strings cool i love P's. I have a Fender Jazz bass. Dunno the exact price anymore, but she's real easy to handle. I'm saving money right now for a Fender P. I love how the Jazz basses play, but Precision basses have a real good sound in my opinion. I'll try to get hold of an Alembic once.

@bunchOcookies I hear ya. I wasnt trying to preach. Anyway Im a Fender guy. Prefer P over Jazz but I have an exceptional P (sold my jazz a year ago) If you love the old stuff youd love my P It is still somewhat black but well worn. Bought used in 77. It was either it or a Rick 4001. I have NEVER regreted my decision. She's sweet. I've played 'em all. I even have a cheap Ibanez 5-string that plays and sounds great. BUT if you ever have a chance to play/hold an Alembic you'll be in love. Later.

@bunchOcookies By the way, If you want to hear some of Stanley's best stuff, check out Return To Forever's Romantic Warrior. Amazing album. One cut in particular "The Dual Of The Jester And The Tyrant" is awesome. Some of Stanley, Chic, Al and Lenny's best work ever.

@bunchOcookies Paid 300 for my P back in the 70s I've turned down offers for 3000. Was playing rock/ jazz and installed DiMarzios for a hotter sound but went back with original PUs. It came with rosewood fb but has a maple since early 80s. You can hear some of my stuff at Ourstage and/or facebook under Diego's Diner. Personal profile on Ourstage is Low B. I had a nice Jazz until about a year ago. My influences range from Stanley to Entwistle to Geddy Lee. Good luck in your P search.

people say music isn't a competition yet they are always claiming Jaco is the best in the world, which means he is the best. Excuse me for saying that Stanley is better than Jaco and this piece of music proves it
@ShangoDC4 жыл бұрын
Totally agreed. I've been a Stanley fan since 73-74. Jaco was great, but Stanley could play rings around Jaco. It's to much Jaco talk as the greatest.

@lwm3398 No mat...its the other way around, Mark King and Level 42 ripped off Stanley something rotten on at least their first 2 albums...Most Brits have never heard of Stanley Clarke back then and even now. I do like Level 42 and thought some of their early stuff was amazing - 'Brit Funk' at its best. Then I discovered Stanley in '85 and realized where it all came from. Mark King - Great Bass player, Stanley Clarke - Bass Legend, underrated and still unknown by so many in the UK...
