Their brand new netcode which will probably fix most of the fps and stutter issues is planned to release with the 3.0 update! If it is good, it will be a game changer. At the moment we are using heavily modified cryengine netcode, while the new netcode was supposedly build from the ground up

The netcode woun't be an issue anymore with the new Lumberjack Engine. I'm not sure if they said that it has been migrated for 2.6, but 3.0 will be in Lumberjack.

The main issue is Cryengine did not really support vast player numbers as we saw in the crysis games mp gameplay, it would stutter and they went with the best looking engine available at the time, and could have maybe had a good product with Unreal engine over the cryengine, i am also thankful they went with cryengine because the game looks amazing with it, not that unreal engine does not look good but cryengine just has that little bit extra. And all these changes they had to make to the cryengine to allow the 64bit stuff and this issue with netcode are bumps on the road to the Star citizen experience but it will get there eventually.

Graphics are pretty good now. I wonder how the gameplay will be - missions, stories, interaction level, what do people in multi-person ships do when on a mission? Do they all abandon their ship? Will there be extra missions for those staying in orbit? It's time to get more information about how the gameplay will be. Something like "the first hour of gameplay for a 3 man ship" stuff

well in a co-op mission, its all up to you and your friends, do you want to completely abandon ship and explore around, or do you want someone to pilot the ship while you and the other person explore, there's no rule

F. S. Larger ships have more than one station. For example on larger ships there is a pilot seat, who obviously pilots the ship, controls any forward facing or gimble guns and missiles. A power management seat, which decides which systems get power priority, such as propulsion, shields or weapons. A shield management seat which can increase power to a damaged section or reinforce sections if incoming fire is expected. Larger ships also tend to have turrets that are manned by players. As new mechanics are implemented scanning is expected to become an active task, along with mining and salvaging. Ship repair from combat is also expected to be something that will need to be done to repair ship systems if needed. Players will need to move to different parts of the ship and interact with parts of it to restore system functions during battle. That's all obviously subject to change, or may never be implemented, but the stuff that's there and the ideas at least show they intend for us to all work together which I am definitely looking forward to.

S. +The Brit While I wouldn't really put stock in concept videos from several years ago, they did recently have a presentation revolving around a structured freelancer mission from a fully voice and motion-captured NPC, and two cooperative players. Honestly though, outside of that showcase, your best bet for a near 1 to 1 comparison of what to expect and _actually play_, we may have to wait as long as subsumption (AI integration), since that is going to dictate a lot of the feel of the game, and influence a lot of player activities. Still early days yet.

If star citizen only met its original crowdfunding goals, it would have come out 2 years ago. The reason it is taking so long is because more and more backer goals are being reached, meaning the game becomes larger and needs more time to make.

By the time they are finished building the system to jump from one end to the other it will take 45 minutes so you best get used to the fast jump times now.

I don't know how many ships would be able to jump that far in one but obviously you would jump to different points in the system and that's just this system we are currently on and others will be bigger. Also games like eve online and elite dangerous are even more hardcore than that since in games like elite you could end up travelling hours and through multiple systems for a mission or to trade.

Free flying means you have no enemies or other players to worry about. More or less a simple way to get the hang of flying different ships as each ship handles a bit differently. Persistent Universe is the current iteration of the mmo aspect, though it's only, i think, 24 people on one server atm. You can do missions, fight computers or players, do some FPS, or just talk to people to try ships that they have that you don't.

+Nasmr yea, a lot of people on the PU are really nice. just ask and if someone has the ship you want to try there's a good chance they'll let you take it for a spin. Also I think either there's a freeflight week happening or is happening soon so you can try most of the ships for free.

Bady89 Nasmr Eventually yes that kind of persistence will happen, but SC isn't to that point yet. You have no worries on food or medicine, you don't have to worry about insurance, the only thing that stays between game sessions is currency (and even then the missions reset when you log out). Waaaay down the line we'll have to start worrying about keeping our character fed so they have what ever perk they decide to put into the game, and pay insurance so we can reclaim our ships when they are destroyed and if there is some kind of blockade and a system needs a specific type of resource. But atm the PU is what I said before: a way to interact with other people and just see where SC is heading to

I don't think it's good to market your games with taglines like "sextillion kilometers" - after we saw what happened to No Man's Sky and their "quantillion planets" it reminded us that it should always be about quality not quantity. You should advertise your hand crafted worlds, made by designers, and not give people the idea that this is another game where you're just hovering in space with not much to do. You can't bait people with vastness anymore.

it's a good point. and the rubbish performance is more of an issue at the moment anyway. when playing at 18 fps.... it's no consolation that there's just lots more badly performing areas to play in. If you are not familiar with actual alpha gameplay, wait 2 years until beta is in full swing. The parts you get will be less expensive, or you can get even better gear. Then you will actually have content to fiddle around with. Right now, this is the worst you will see this game.

You know... it's not a bad trailer by any means. But the way this was done and the "Star Citizen just got BIGGER" is really overblown and gives a very wrong impression when right now this is all alpha content for the purpose of alpha testing the more basic game mechanics and more elaborate systems underneath. Especially that phrase "Star Citizen just got BIGGER". Yeah, technically true, the alpha got a little bit bigger. Not anywhere near where the final promised game should be however, not in terms of functionality, nor content. You guys should really focus more on getting the testing and early access aspect across, as an original backer I'd very much appreciate that. This trailer is the opposite of that.

i'm using a gtx970 Overclock Edition and in Alpha 2.5 i see no difference regarding the performance when using MAX and LOW settings, its always kinda laggy in Multiplayer and my i7 2.8 GHZ CPU is at around 60% usage. I believe the Alpha game is not optimized yet for best performance.

I'm running on a 290 and 1440. I can handle star marine at decent detail levels, however the persitent universe is bugged right now for everyone. Also, the game is not optimized yet. 290/970 might be stretching it but it is playable

Ok after testing 2.6 with my gtx 970 "Overclocked" i can say,that Star Marine is running good enough to make kills,still a little bit laggy but not as bad as on "Crusader". But Arena Commander runs very nice and smooth in the multiplayer Universe, no lags and no performance loss.

I would expect the complete S42 campaign to be done by that time. Considering it was expected to release end of this year. So I would expect something for SQ42 at the end of next year if we're lucky.

Chris Hoesel i doubt we'll get the complete campaign till shortly before release of star citizen. i think we'll be getting it in chapters every few months starting 2017. probably up to 2018 or 2019

I'm hoping for the bullet-based weapons to be given more kickback and maybe more damage/wounding effect and laser-based weapons to have less kick back but less damage/wounding. I think that from what I've seen of other backers no one wants a COD style shooting mechanic in the game. So hopefully they'll be working on making the weapons a bit harder to use so that everyone isn't constantly boarded by some 7-year-olds who only play COD

Well, the game IS supposed to be at least broadly based on real-life physics and whatnot. Their guns are still going to act like... Well, GUNS. I wouldn't hold out too much hope for crazy magical weapons that disobey the laws of reality or anything.

Arclite02 yes alot of people dont seem to understand there comes a point where guns.... well they just work like guns, i mean you cant really fix that lol. also guns dont work like cod. they have recoil and is not as simple as spray bullets in pin point accuracy lol

hmmm I don't know... I want to say good things but... all I see is FPS and FPS fighting ship to ship... I want it to be more than that. I want to be able to ignore the PVP and do my own thing via science, exploration, technology, and research. There are millions of PVP games out there but almost none of what I described.
