Good video, with a lot of good info. I have been ROC mining for a while and I also like to pass on my knowledge to those looking to get into ROC Mining. Personally I perfer Aberdeen around Hurston because the gems are almost all Hadanite. I pick up the ROC and Cutty Black from HURL1 or HURL2. The best place I have found is directly under OM1 on Aberdeen. OM1 is good because it's always daylight there. I fly towards the sun which is an easier point of reference than trying to keep a heading on the Compass, by doing that you also make sure you stay in daylight while you move away from OM1. Also a far quicker and easier way to work out what type of gem it is is to move close to it, press F and zoom with the mouse wheel and you can see what it is by the colour. Hadanite is Pink, Aphorite is Purple and Dolavine is Green. I can make 220K an hour mining Hadanite on Aberdeen.

I’ve never had any luck mining on Aberdeen. Most of the stuff I’ve found was dolvine. However if your location and process is correct that’s good as with the success of any video will start to bring griefers and ppl will need a 2nd option!

@@BarPBarPkoyanee just fly to Aberdeen then leave your Quantum drive spooled up. Move your ship around and look for the small diamond shaped Orbital markers. If you can't see OM1 it means you are on the opposite side of the planet, so fly to OM3, OM4, OM5 or OM6 and you will see it. OM1 is at the North pole and OM2 is at the South pole. The other orbital markers are around the equator. OM1 is also close to HDMS Nordgaard and HDMS Anderson so if you are picking up your ROC from there you are near it. Good luck.

@@darkviking8411 This info has been around for ages. When I first started playing back last year I saw several videos talking about OM1 which is why I go there. I have yet to see a single griefer anywhere near OM1. It's just an orbital marker over the North Pole and you can come down over a wide area making it difficult for griefers to find you. However a couple of times I have encountered NPC pirates near HDMS Nordgaard so you need to be careful. Also that is a far better place for an ambush so if Griefers are going to attack it will be around one of the mining stations. That's also why I don't start looking for gems close to the mining stations because that's when you are likely to get jumped.

This was absolutly enough for a first timer to get going with this. Before this i had never rented a ship, sat in anything beyond my starter ship and this was everything i needed. FYI, once you have a ship capable of it, you can do Group ERT bounties for about 106,000 to 108,000 every 25 mins. If you're good. It can get monotonous though. But that's a fast way to grind.

That's pretty much the same as doing ROC mining. I often get 220k an hour mining Hadanite. But constantly doing the same thing can soon become tedious, so I mix it up with bounties, both PVE and bunker missions, wreck investigations and recently cave missions. The problem was that in the last patch the buggy inventory system made it very hit and miss. When everything works though cave bounty missions can net 120 k +. I haven't played since the latest patch dropped so hopefully they have fixed the inventory system.I agree variety is the spice of life.

Yeah, very good video. Good tips on a few of the common "gotcha's". The "one hour timebox" is a very good tip :) One suggestion I would make, for when you start manoevring the ROC in 3rd person view: - Explain how to get to/from 3rd person view ("F4") - Explain how to pan/tilt the view so you get lined up with front or back of ROC (hold down "Z"?, pan/tilt with mouse)

I bought a starter package in 2014 and it's starting to become the game we all dreamed about - however its a long way from being a fully functional game - so beware of false expectations. Over the past few months I've been disconnected from the server, lost my ROC due to regular network errors and lost my cargo (which took hours to accrue) on almost every occasion I've tried mining. I recently changed my home planet and launched from there - now my ROC seems to back at my original planet and all my hard earned cargo has gone yet again. I purposely only fill it half full and then go to sell it at a nearby mining station to minimize risk. So far I've managed to complete 2 out of 6 attempts over a period of 2 weeks. I've logged tickets with CIG technical support to attempt to resolve these issues but they seem to take at least 5 days to reply and then aren't much help - and dont seem to be able to resolve these issues. So my advice to any new player - dont buy a ROC and don't try and mine unless you have lots of time to waste and don't anger easily. SC is buggy - and despite all the YT videos that make out that it's super easy to make money mining in SC (no offence to the content creators they generally do a great job - like Norse News) - I've found it really difficult. The game is in Alpha so it's currently only marginally functional - so you should expect problems. Customer / technical support could help resolve some of these issues or at least compensate players for all the disconnects and hours of lost time, cargo and effort - but then I guess CIG might lose out on more pledges / purchases. Right now mid May 2022 the active player base is peaking due to a lot of social media hype - servers are therefore at peak times - barely functional like over the weekends when most players are being spawned at the wrong home locations, losing their ships or vehicles and or cargo, getting fined / getting crime stat from no fault of their own and or being dropped by a server. So I'd suggest waiting for a few weeks until the hype dies down or CIG resolve these major technical issues.

I've tried it yesterday. I can't stress the 1 hour intervall enough! Something allways bugs out. And may average for a hour was around 90k but I only found the middel quality gem. Great tutorial. One thing to add, unloading the ROC to sell is no longer required. I used this same method to buy a ROC, then buy a prospector. Quant mine until I recently bought a freelancer max. Been playing about 4 weeks now and it’s worked out great.

That is how it’s suppose to work but if u see in the video I unloaded the roc and drove it near the building and it still didn’t register (edited that part of the video) I had to move it to the pad before the terminal picked it up

Set spawn at Everus Harbour, work the bounty up to lvl2, do Evicting illegals in cave (under bounties tab), loot npcs and boxes for hadanite and diluvite. Go back to station, galleria lvl, up the stairs, admin office and sell. Rinse and repeat. U get 30k + 6k (call of arms) + I went from a minimum of 80k to almost 200k of materials, good luck.

Man I spent hrs doing two runs, first run made 40k as just wanted to see how it worked. Second run over an hour had half the cargo full of just hadenite or whatever the purple one is. Game crashes, managed to load back into ship and the miner is even still there but FA rocks i had mined. Some dude on the server gave me 100k when I said what happened in chat. Dude saved my night. Nice community at least.

And the 120k an hour is realistic if someone is just starting, I had SOME knowledge of how to mine as a person taught me earlier and the rest I had to figure out as I went along. I do make ok cash when they fix the Mole so it does not have 0 scu of space. I did the basic pve bounty training mission, lost my Aurora LX and my golden sniper, then came back with my 325 and lost that, lost a wing and 1 of the guns almost instantly :) Never found any of my corpses after that sadly.

Nicely done...you can actualy earn around 150k under one hour if you go bounty hunting in caves. Guys there are full of hadanite. Yeah it is more risky since it involves some fps action but it is really worth the risk. I need to put my ROC to work again btw. Love mining with both ROC and Prospector. @@yesyube We just had the update/wipe but it was solid advice at the time. The best I took away from it was the instability readings and locating. So just do what he says and you'll get whatever it is you're looking for. With that said the more time I spent looking for only 1 type I would have made more money if I just picked up everything so what I started doing was get 2 clusters and then just mine whatever and it made it amazing because I signicqntly decreased my downtime looking for stuff.

I've have had so many damn issues mining Quantanium. everything from finding none, to server lagging and blowing me up while cracking a rock. To blowing up mid air, to 30k's or out right game crashes. Maybe it is time to try ROC mining. Hell, I'm about to get into bounty hunting to try and make money but that's not usually my go to play style. Yes I am on an SSD and descent system.

Bud, I too have had nothing but problems mining quantanium! My problems mostly consists to of it taking FOREVER to find a decent rock with 15% or more quant in it. Yeah U can get others to come along with u and I would definitely suggest that with quantainium but I focused on soloing it up. I feel ur pain if u ever get to the 5mill mark I have part 2 up where u can easily make 270k+ an hour just “space trucking”

the best way to make money is play events that streamers hold, won a total of 300mil from it. but they mostly do events for aUEC in the days before wipe so the next best way is just regular begging in chat, or toe pics for aUEC

I was excited because it was a free weekend and I’m an elite dangerous guy. That situation just frustrated me and I gave up. I wanted to fly around and see the sites . Go to microtech and do the mercenary satellite missions where you have to take out 3 satellite's they pay 18k per mission and are pretty easy if you know what your doing. Or you can do delivery box missions! The roc is a separate vehicle that you have to use the terminals for at any mining facility to pull out on planets and moons. As far as landing not exactly sure WHAT is the problem that your having with landing but most ppl early on have issues dropping to fast mouse wheel scroll down your speed limiter to just above the bottom and it will allow u to land slowly. Also I believe u can auto land holding N key when hovering above the land

When landing, put the ship in vtol mode, slow down and then strafe down. It helps to use the throttle limiter to keep from making too large of inputs and thrusting into the ground/wall. Use f4 to go to 3rd person and 'z' to free look, i like using a top down view to line up the hangars with doors on top or to get a precise landing on a small landing pad. The delivery missions will get you up to speed on landing if you havent gotten it down yet.

Not bad. Personally, I prefer the cave missions where you either need to clear a bunch of enemies, like clear illegal occupants in cave or bounty hunter mission in cave. Last one I did, gave me like 30k for the mission and then around 170k from hadanite and whatever the other gem is. Now, I dont know what the pre requsites are to actually get the missions and in order to be effective, you kinda want the big ass rucksack and the big ass armor from port tessler. The AI is hilariously bad and dont even shoot back. Didnt take the time exactly, but heading out from Port Ollisar, do the mission, loot and go back to ollisar probably took around 20-30 min. I think im gonna combine this method with the cave one, whilst waiting for a new cave mission to pop up.

Ohh man, there are missions where u can go to microtech and do I believe “mercenary” category destroy 3 satellites for like 19-20k destroy the satellites and get out you will then have NPCs coming to kill u that’s the easiest way to make the 40k to rent this stuff. Many in our organization can help or do it along side u. You can as well join our discord and organization (links in the description) and there are quite a few that can help!

@@darkviking8411 Yes, if you have the UEC to rent stuff otherwise not. I have not had even one single play session without a serious game-breaking bug since Invictus. (1). Could not eat food so logged off. (2). Could not request ship so logged off. (3). Could eat food and could request ship but could not move ship laterally so logged off. Three play sessions in a row. During Invictus, I was able to walk around Orison without issues. Was I unlucky? Yes. I won the bug lotto three in a row. Welcome to Star Shitizen.

Can you do gem mining with a prospector?

Personally have never attempted. the prospectors laser is stronger than the rocs so I assume the ability to break the rocks is extremely hard due to the power difference. You may be able to do it but I think it would be wildly inefficient and would be a waste of time.

I don't think a R.O.C. will fit into a titan. Only the Graycat buggy/golf cart, but not the R.O.C. If it does, do you have a video on how to carry it?

@@darkviking8411 Nothing to apologize about. I was hoping you knew a way to make it work. I just became a citizen with the titan. There are only so may box runs I can do at a time, especially since the bed doesn't work in the titan currently. I was hoping to try some mining as I need to change out the weapons so I can do bounty. The stock ones run out of ammo way too fast. The hand held miner seem...limited. Very limited.

I found some gems but it says nothing when I scan them. I tried to mine them but it does nothing when I'm increasing the power, there's no overload or optimal area, nothing is shown :( Is it because they are gems to mine by hand?

There is a big where rocks that aren’t actually there show up try literally walking or driving through them. it’s like the game didn’t load them in all the way

@@darkviking8411 Actually just looking it up you can put that other little greycat buggy in a Titan and since most people probably forget about its existence it only makes sense that it would evolve to rock after people finish going through a communication chain or whisper down the alley with friends. I would probably fall in that one for sure.

No gems are not unstable at all. The only thing that can blow u up is the mining of the roc going into overcharge and exploding. Once the gems are able to be extracted nothing else will destroy u except some possible bug or griefers

So first of all: its not an hour, its 1 1/2 hours because you need to get the ship and the roc. Than those two cost you around 40.000 auec And thats 161.000 - 40.000 = 121.000 auec. Not bad, but shit boring after one hour for sure. If you just continue the satellitemissions above microtech in a decent ship its about 25000 with "a call to arms" on in less than 10 mins... 25.000 x 6 = 150.000 or more...boom mtf!!

Yeah but it is an hour after that set up. You get paid to go to your 9-5? No ppl USUALLY don’t get paid to drive to work same concept one AT WORK the time starts that being said u can do the satellite missions but not everyone wants to do that. Again in the video I say it’s not the fastest but it’s pretty chill. Also you don’t rent for a day to only use it for 1 HOUR use it multiple times!
