Sorry folks. With respect to the Taurus, it’s “Best Value”. The best overall is …well, just watch to the end ;)

I think once cargo is physicalized, and the Cats cockpit area becomes detachable w/ it's tractor beam - the Cat will start looking a lot more promising. I fly one right now only because I unlocked the pirate version of it and think it looks amazing with the pirate skin.
@SSPGaming2 жыл бұрын
I can’t disagree that the Cat is a pretty cool ship. I too have the pirate Cat unlocked and love the look. Unfortunately, modularity and other changes are a long way away, and the capacity, capability and handling of this ship is what prevented it from reaching the list. That’s not to say I don’t like it, or never used it. In fact, I used it almost exclusively, running trades between 3.9 and 3.11. At this point though, it is outshined and outperformed by other ships :) Here’s hoping to a cat revival soon™️

@@SSPGaming 100% Agree. The C2 just can't be beat right now in terms of raw hauling potential - it's crazy to think that once the larger Hull series ships come online that they will make the C2 look like a light freighter lol.
@SSPGaming2 жыл бұрын
I think I’ll still enjoy the C2 though. We’re starting to see more categories of these freighters as the game develops. It’s interesting. Some focus on volume, others on speed. I think once things really get fleshed out, we won’t have “what’s better?”, just, “what’s the right tool for the job?” :) I’m looking forward to that day.

696 on the C2. As you mentioned, Taurus has a shielded cargo area, and is cheaper than the MSR.. Carrack is life.
@durtyred862 жыл бұрын
Awesome top 5. Though I'd argue that for pure cargo, the Misc Freelancer/MAX is leagues better at entry level space trucking than the Cutless-Black at 66/ $110 and 120/$150 scu's respectively. I white knight over the Connie Taurus faithfully. If u could only have one ship under $200 she would definitely be my pick hands down. The space, defense, utility and offense is simply S-tier. The Taurus is objectively the Cutless-Black on steroids. Whatever the you look at in the Black and love can be directly compared to the Taurus and beefed up. Including the tractor beam ability. It's just an amazing ship imho. When you talk King of utility in the Carrack and King of sheer capacity in the C2, at it's current pace, the BMM is set to dethrone them both without even trying hard. Still, both the Carrack with it's modularity and the C2 with it's..... gape, "giggity" 🙃 hold vital roles in the future of SC.
@SSPGaming2 жыл бұрын
Thanks man! Really appreciate you watching :-) Yeah I don’t disagree that the max is a great ship but it might be a little too much for someone brand new to the game. One of the reasons that I went with the cutlass is that it’s available in a game package so even though it’s a little cheaper than the max with nowhere near the amount of cargo that the max can move, it’s so much more accessible to more people. I’ve owned a BMM since they were 250$ ;) Also can’t argue that when that ship goes live nothing will beat if for pure cargo capacity. But considering it’s size and the fact that it’s meant to be a merchant ship, it’s not one to be used like a traditional cargo ship imo ;) might be a little cumbersome for just that ;) Nevertheless, can’t wait for it. Also, #connieclub ;)
@GameSequences Жыл бұрын
It also depends on what you're carrying, if you're taking on a lot less cargo, then the smaller ships are much more fuel efficient than traveling in a capital ship like the BMM.

As a go to person for engineering logistics and ship repair, I do employ a few so called cargo ships: Cutlass Black, Constellation Andromeda and Caterpillar. The thing is, these ships will be doing a lot of odd ball fetching jobs and being runners between my Reclaimer, Pioneer, Orion and Crucible. I plan on converting my Caterpillar into a flying machine shop/small parts fabrication factory since Caterpillars have other modules planned for them. I plan on lending out all my ships to my main org for members who do not own such ships and want to do something for the org.

Glad you mentioned the whole machine shop thing, because I know my Carrack has one planned as well and I'm really looking forward to when that comes online.

Not MSR as the doors do my head in but i would love a really fast trade ship...the Railen might be interesting but i don't like the engines sticking out. Easy to be shot off. If they did a MSR cargo only version with an entrance for the cockpit that would be great.
@SSPGaming2 жыл бұрын
I think the MSR is still a great option. Of course we’re talking about ships that exist, but Railen is definitely interesting. I don’t think I’ll buy one though. Because I hate carrying my cargo outside.
@CraigPaschang2 жыл бұрын
Also how are you supposed to hand-load the Railen with its external pods, some of which are stuck behind struts?! I like the design but there is way too much unknown about it to spend real money.

Great video! I am constantly torn between the MSR and Taurus. Btw, I think for the Taurus, the 2 crew are the 2 co-pilot seats and the 1 other is the Turret.

Taurus is amazing and can fit 2 size 5s for self defense, especially if you put the ad5bs on it, plus the tractor beam, but the MSR is definitely way sexier
@durtyred862 жыл бұрын
I stopped being torn and said screw it lol... Got both. Now, I own an Andromeda because I have so many other cargo vessels but i keep looking back at the Taurus... At my rate, I'm going to own both variants, the MSR and the Corsair lol... At night when I ponder wtf I was thinking owning so many redundant ships, I tell myself that the verse is going to be big and that it's probably a good idea to spread my fleet out across it.... That helps me sleep well at night knowing I'm $1k away from a "free" F8C Lightning...... 😅

I think the Hull A denotes the "Starter" cargo vessel for one reason. Most of the starting missions are worth 8k-10k aUEC. A Good, typical, #professional cargo material would be Titanium. You need 64 SCU to cover and 8k profit. So, to me, any ship with more than 64 SCU should be okay to get your feet wet in.
@SSPGaming Жыл бұрын
That's logical. I personally don't care much for the smaller ships but that's just because I've been spoiled by being able to own a Carrack, Starlifter and Cat. I remember how real the struggle was with the smaller ships though so anything that gives you a leg up is always a welcome addition.
@andrewmaughan12052 жыл бұрын
Respectfully, I disagree with the choice of the Cutty Black for the low end / small / entry level cargo carrier. My reasoning is that while the Cutty & the base Freelancer trade blows in terms of being best small multi crew ships, the Freelancer Maxx (122) has nearly 3x the cargo capacity of the Cutty (46).
@SSPGaming2 жыл бұрын
I see your point, and certainly it’s a valid argument. But it doesn’t fit into the segment of entry level as easily, as it’s more expensive than the already pricy for some people cutty. So it was excluded from a value point of view, as opposed to a practical point of view. :)

Transport and trade cargo are 2 different jobs so my picks depend on if I'm trading or transporting vehicles and friends. For entry level cargo Hull A . Transport Cutty black. Over 100 , under 300 . For trade and transport Freelancer MAX. Over 300 Trade cargo Caterpillar Transport M2 That is my picks for several reasons.

@@SSPGaming it's not about the carrying, it's about the handling . If it was just about carrying then space would be all that matters . This will become very clear as cargo refactoring starts to come in iterations. It's not the same job and the tools and ease of access will be much different

@@SSPGaming thinking more about it i would likely amend my 100 to 300 . Leaving the MAX as transport but having an arguable draw between the raft and Taurus as the cargo option there . The raft has a solid capacity , with the rework upcoming to cargo it should maintain a cargo handling speed advantage . The Taurus with its belly tractor turret should still handle cargo very well but have a capacity advantage trade off . This is of course ignoring non flyable ships such as the Railen which will be better than both at it .

The Caterpillar isn’t on this list, which is quite funny given it’s the only dedicated true large cargo ship in the game. The C2 is a vehicle transport ship, hence by 3.18 the lack of ability to unload, no tractor beam etc will show it up. Your selections are very 3.17 specific rather than good advice for people who might spend money in-game.

The C2 outclasses the Cat in every way. It handles better, looks better, hauls more goods, and more vehicles. For the relatively small price hike, a C2 is a no brainer over a Cat. That’s not to say Cats are bad. They’re not. They’ve just been outclassed.
