This isn't as much a ship as it is a flying weapon platform. I can just imagine the pilot angling the ship to allow 5 of those massive guns to all fire upon a single target. This thing is straight up scary looking and I love it. It is most definetly my favorite ship from SC so far.

Another nice video TA. When me and my mate found this at Hurston Dynamic's store or whatever it's called, we spent about 30 minutes just looking around it fantasizing about having a big crew on it and ordering folk around. Seems amazing how everyone would have their own jobs and duties.

I would say to use a crew capacity of 10. 6turrets a pilot a copilot and 2 men for a gun mounted rover or mustang in the cargo bay

mmmh. That makes sense for gameplay. It has capacity for 9 crew, but looking at it and going for 'realism', clearly a ship like this would have more like a crew of 20 or so. Of course, then it's not equipped properly anymore for supporting such a crew... But, basically you have at least 6 turrets, so that's 6 gunners. You'd expect to have at least one engineer and a technician or two, you'd have two pilots (given the existence of a pilot AND copilot seat, those would be expected to be on duty at the same time), and then you've got the captain (on a ship this size it's doubtful the captain would fly it.), and possibly a medical officer of some kind. Probably much of the crew being crosstrained, like the gunners having training in performing emergency repairs and/or serving as a medic. That gives a crew of 12 or 13. But then you can expect there may be a second shift, which would cover some of the roles. (probably not the gunners because during combat everyone is on duty, but at other times you'd have less than the full complement on active duty.) So, maybe some extra pilots and engineers, which takes the crew up to something like 17 or 18... Which, would actually work out alright if you assume the crew is hot-bunking. (multiple crew members sharing the same bunk, except the captain) If you assume two shifts with the captain not sharing, then you'd have capacity for 17 crew... Yeah, still, that's from a realistic perspective, which isn't likely to be how people play it. More likely you'd have a single pilot/captain and 6 gunners and call it a day. (maybe a dedicated engineer if you think combat damage is going to be a major, critical issue that needs a dedicated crewman.)

Just imagine two Sentinels and a Hammerhead bearing down on you in a hardened position. Two teams of Marines come pouring out of the Sentinels while the Hammerhead provides overwatch. A truly terrifying prospect.

Maybe instead of talking about "huge guns" and "many missiles" you can give the size and number next time ;-) But what really made me smile is when you entered the cockpit and immediately sat on the right chair like in a UK car. This was in fact "only" the co-pilot seat, but why not... ;-))

Hey Tactical. It has a lower required crew because the original plan was to be able to have the turrets (I believe up to 4) controlled by AI blades as the stock loadout. Of course plans change so this could be out of date and I'm sure player gunners can probably do a better job with good communication.

Excellent video as always TA! Loved it! My concern will be getting crew to fill all the turret spots, turret gameplay is not the most exciting thing I would imagine for a real person wanting to explore his / her own space career, experience and what not. This is gonna be tricky, NPC and AI is so far down the pipeline and not reliably certain that it will work in the end, the ambitions are good but we just don't know. Players have placed much faith and trust in NPC's because without them, there's gonna be a lot of empty large ships not reaching their full potential around the verse. It's natural for most people to wanna be in control of their own ship instead of being crew. Because of that, I am sceptic. I do hope I will be wrong. I hope players out there will be thrilled and overjoyed to be crew for other people, I suppose this game will rely incredibly heavy on the Roleplay Aspect. Players that can get into characters, act and do their part to create a meaningful experience that makes Star Citizens format shine. Blergh, sorry for the rant. But I feel much better now! Cheers!

I have a Military back in the US while I was in the Army I'm still able to notice what works what doesn't. Over all the ship is sound however the center cut out needs to go. Replace with an area for the engines instead of placing them in cargo room.

HH is a nice ship for sure and I like being crew on them. I love that you can see the ground easily when landing but I have some issues with the ship design overall. Ship looks like it is flying backwards, to me, thanks to the elongated tail section. I would have rather seen more symmetrical. So flat at the back and flat at the front. I do like how the front turret guns are slightly inset compared to the rear turrets. This should allow all turrets to face the front if needed. It has a top turret, so put one directly below it to cover the bottom aspect, or put it where the cockpit currently is. Instead of the cockpit on the bottom place the cockpit in the middle front where the docking door is. You would still be able to have downward visibility quite easily, by having a glass floor, but you could also have upward visibility. In the rear, instead of the very long pointy bit, make the back also flat between the turrets. Then to mirror the front cockpit, keep a turret back there in the middle as well instead of hanging under the bottom. So basically remove the back 1/3 of the ship. Integrate the engine nacelles into the body. They can protrude out of the top of the hull slightly, or below, or both. Fill in the donut hole and use that space for the cargo elevator/ cargo bay. It looks small, but without needing the hull on the inner ring side of the pathways around the current hole, you will gain usable interior space. That bottom cockpit makes me thing they create handicaps for ships just because. Ships like my reliant have a fishbowl for a cockpit. Basically half a sphere for a cockpit glass. Yet this ship has almost no outward visibility.

I believe there's no Life Support in the turrets (maybe in the tail?) so during breaks in fighting, store the turret (or leave?). It maybe able to have two shifts, possible three (max) if the crew "hot bunks" (on duty, off duty, down time/sleep)? ;-) The limitation for multi-shifts is crew gear storage.

Good video... yet, the ship deserves some constructive criticism. Food storage is unique to this ship, which likely means that it will be utterly useless. The Hammerhead, in its current state, lacks armory/crew weapon storage, as well as proper protection from decompression on its external elevators. Also, this ship has crew of 9, but only 8 escape pods. One escape pod needs to be added. Additionally, co-pilot (right bridge seat) should have their own RADAR, not just that useless black strip. RADAR is so very important, and yet CIG designers decided NOT to give it to the co-pilot of a CAPITAL SHIP. That's ridiculous and needs to be corrected. Also, there is an irritiating bug... Hammerhead's upper deck lacks atmosphere. You will suffocate walking there without a helmet (that is... if the ship is in space).

Hammerhead isnt a capital. The smallest capital is the Idris or Corvette. This is smaller than the Corvette. Tho tbh most of the systems i suspect arent online yet.

The hammerhead sux to pilot. Its unwieldy and slow. Edit: I was on a patrol mission and failed it because I couldnt reach the patrol area in 5min. It was 200km away.

I still don't understand the design. It's like Devs are wasting space in ships on purpose. Like lets make all these useless hallways?. Would in their right mind would actually design a spaceship like this. If the power shorts out to some sections etc, you want manual access ladders or other passage ways. You don't see buildings on the ground just go with elevators and no stairs, and those arent even being shot at :P Hopefully this gets a redesign.
