The salvage balcony lets you overlook the cargo when it's so full that the main door to access the room is blocked by cargo. It's the same reason all the large storage areas have a balcony. The caterpillar and starfarer have the same. Presumably you could stack the cargo so that you have lanes to move through, but the balcony might let you fill it to the brim and still come back to inspect it things in the back and whatnot. Probably more important when you're carrying live cargo than scrap, but still.

I also think we went Salvage Processing to Salvage Hold to Outside... missed the Cargo Hold level which is separate from the Salvage Hold.

The suits are for EVAing out and getting larger components in whole (part of what the cutter is supposed to be for) and exploring derelicts, not so much repairing.

at 17:20 a minor correction, that is not the captains chair! that Is the Pilots chair, and the second one is co-pilot/crane operators chair. there is no "captain" chair unless u refer to captains quarters. thats where the captain would probably be IN his or hers "captain" chair, giving orders around

Might have something to do with Exploration being one of the most abstract careers. It was always going to come last, after cargo, mining and salvage. On the upside they'll have learned a lot when it comes to designing big ships by the time they get to it. I feel like the Starfarer is a woefully inefficient use of space compared to the newer Reclaimer.

This ship really gets my thoughts imagining the Orion and all of its mining functions. I actually took my Reclaimer out for a spin. I am still trying to learn all the various ship flying functions so I am all thumbs atm. The guns were a mystery for sure. But it really does feel like a knock off of the Nostromo from the movie 'Alien'. They need more chains and chain falls with some wet look in the manual salvage area I think. I think a group of friends could have a great time flying around in space, zipping in and out of the game using the bed system, and making a lot of money per trip, say several hours of real time game play. Maybe even spend a week, playing at different agreed upon times to go make money in space. There are lots of scenarios one can dream up for game play with this ship. A lot will depend on the mini game system of salvaging using this ship, and the voice capabilities between crew members. Even some game mechanics for eating in the mess to restore stamina say, would be a great addition. That mechanic they could port over from the Airliner ship CIG will have in game, or maybe the 890 Jump eating mechanics. And you are right. It is very slow at 100m/sec. It feels like you are just lumbering along in space with this huge behemoth behind you; slowly rotating and gyrating to your commands. And I do mean slowly. But it feels so cool Their definitely is the need for the right music to accompany the travel and in various areas of the ship. Outfitted with appropriate AI and your friends, this ship will be a fantastic experience. I can just imagine your first off load of booty, and your first HUGE check as payment! I wonder how the spoils will divvy up among the crew?

1 thought cane to mind - all these cabins / lockers and tables for personal staff are great. You can make this ship like home. BUT if you loose your ship.... you loose everything. So I guess 90% of this places will be empty and only filled with necessary equipment.

I think they’ve got the crew numbers wrong. There’s only 4 bed spaces but a need for -Pilot - Claw operator -Tractor beam operator -Tractor bean operator - engineer/ Drone manager -Processing crew -Turret/ Scanner crew. Meaning it needs more of a Retaliator bed system. Or they need to use the space more effectively. Because they need a much larger habitation area simply to accommodate a full crew.

There's a chute above the claw thing that looks like it leads to inside the ship, the amount of times I tried getting in through there, must've been at it for 20 mins at least!

Now we need reclaimer-racing. I can imagine this thing just cutting wrecks into bits and pieces and while it's processing the scraps the salvage platform moves on to the next treasure. I wonder if it will be able to salvage crashed wrecks as well (such as all those caterpillars dotting the moon surface).

On the note of the rust and such, the ships are old. So old that there isn't a single new one. All of them in the verse are used. A case of so good it killed the market because it lasts too long.

The ships we are pledging for are to be brand new, and then over time and use will deteriorate in looks. So the Reclaimer should be brand new when the game releases, otherwise i would be upset if my ship gets even trashier with use and time from the state they are showing us now.

I'm not a fan of the fake rust etc. keep in mind it plays 1000 years in the future and those ships are pretty much military spec by our current day definition... also, the eyecandy decorations don't make sense, the toilet paper etc. would fly all across the ship in any maneuver, you wouldn't even store it like that in a camper. I love the industrial appeal of Reclaimer and Orion, but they're both heavly specialized for their role and I'm not really interested in either role. D:
