Just want to say, I've seen your other vids where you express your opinions on MM, and I applaud you for still making these videos to educate us and roll with the CIG punches. For better or for worse, thank you for your efforts, Sir!

I’m new to all of this, I wanted a HOSAS system and I got this game to justify it. So I’m fresh-fresh, and been scouring KZbin for content. I found your channel by the video about your thoughts on MM, which without even playing the game yet I feel like I can completely agree with. Anyway I really appreciate that given how you feel about the Modes, you can leave your feelings for the videos dedicated to that topic and not bring them into these fundamentals. Even with zero StarCit experience I can’t help but feel disappointed that I won’t get to use the previous flight model, but my VKB’s are being delivered today so I’m still pretty jazzed.

I want to add that rotating your ship will convert the g's. For example if you roll right while strafing right, this will create strong negative g's. While rolling left while strafing right will create strong positive g's. I think this is important for cancelling g's, as positive and negative g's are stronger than lateral g's.

Coupled mode really makes the game feel a lot more arcade-y with how absupt thrusters always respond to the tiniest input.

I think it would be nice if your boost speed would stay the same, even if you stop boosting. If you would change your vector however, your speed will drop without boost. That would feel way better

Awesome video, thank you! However, the IFCS section wasn't clear to me -- are there any other resources someone would recommend on this topic? It wasn't clear because comments like "losing Gs" but there was no reference to which axes Gs were being lost, it made it seem like that thrust in each degree of freedom is not independent. Is this implying that the fastest way to an arbitrary point is some sort of multi-step process as opposed to pointing directly to that point (e.g. roll then pitch up, or yaw then thrust forward (or roll, pitch, then thrust))?

Well explained. But it shows that CIG actually made things LESS intuitive by removing trichording and using the egg shape for boost.

Hi. I want ask a question, since most times I fly WW1/WW2 combat sims, I use HOTAS and rudder. I think since rolling and pitching is more effective way in combat and yaw for fine precision, take off and coordinate the turn. Now i would have additional movement - strafe. For that I could use rudder to strafe left and right and break for up and down. Without one free axis, yaw need to be bind to button. My question is: do I really need a yaw that much in space combat?

Superb +10. Btw - what's the case for swapping yaw and roll on the fly? There is a keybind for that (Swap Yaw/Roll toggle).

@Jamie-6667 ай бұрын
@@TUROCK320 Ah, but swooping and turning for non combat in space though. All the CIG videos have that. I plan to anyway, just a single toggle and sorted. BUT, it must be easier to get on your dominant axis rolling into your target, surely? Like fighter planes do. Or a combination of both. Not all people have foot pedals.
@TUROCK3207 ай бұрын
@@Jamie-666 are you asking question or suggest a visions ? i do not understand. There are reasons why we have this kind of axis and the possibility to swap. Actually the game is not design for battle fight manoeuvers... ? Swooping for non combat in space ? why (this is a non sens actually) ? EDIT : In my mind the rate turn in SC (MM include) look like not enough significant 😅 . Maybe you were talking at very high level performance of the player. EDIT² : After watching Avenger video on the lead Pip behaviour and the important of the roll for track i understand your point of view ! PS : SC still arcady. We doesnt have to buy pedal.🙄

Do you fly decoupled at all times, or are there times where you prefer coupling on (presumably anytime you're not in combat)?
@piedpiper11723 ай бұрын
Once you get used to decoupled you will likely prefer to have it on in almost all instances. It actually feels much better and gives much more control even in things like landing in a hanger. If you are wondering about a specific situation, there are plenty of “how to x decouoled” videos on KZbin, such as “how to land decouoled.” Not all by A1, but still good.

Great video IMHO, just a quick question: isn't it viable to roll 180° while continuing the strafe, instead of strafing the opposite direction, to counter blacking out? e.g. strafe up until you black out and then roll 180° and continue with strafe down to keep your momentum and prevent blacking out
@joshstanton2674 ай бұрын
The circular g meter shows which direction the g's are being applied and yes, you can roll 180 but I wouldn't apply too much negative g for too long, as the human will red out easier (particularly due to g-suits keeping the blood up near the lungs heart and brain)
@punkasaurian30557 ай бұрын

This is probably one of the most irritating things for me about MM. Instant immersion slaughter. Your ship actively fights against it's own momentum for no reason. #SpaceDrag #StarcadeCitizen

Where the hell did they come up with this system. It seems so unfinished, poorly thought out, and disconnected from the dedicated player base. Why couldn't they just work with the system we already have rather than throwing out the baby with the bathwater and shoveling in a worse product. It makes me feel like I wasted my money on flight sticks.

Another way to describe the difference between coupled and decoupled is decoupled lets you drift in the direction of travel, coupled applies reverse thrust until you come to a stop. When decoupled, gravity will act on your ship making it drop toward a planet or moon. When coupled, thrusters ill counteract that force to keep you at zero speed in spite of gravity.
