What most people seem to struggle with is the fact that most AAA games on average can take anywhere from 5 to 10 years or more to finish and thats by already fully developed and situated companies with state of the art development facilities/infrastructure and potentially a thousand plus employees. Star citizen on the other hand started out with no company, barely any development infrastructure and 13 employees working out of a basement. Just creating a functional company with a solid foundation and appropriate development facilities with a harmonized development team is going to take a substantial amount of time and effort it self let alone attempting to create a tripple AAA quality game that hasnt been done before...so I'd say considering all things mismanaged or not, they have climbed the highest mountain and accomplished an amazing feet and should be congratulated. I personally thought based on my lack of knowledge about person/s involved that they didn't have the drive to succeed with this...they proved me very wrong!!!

So glad that the game mechanics that we are waiting for a long time are finally coming to us in the next 6 months. It will make the game more playable and people coming back for more than just fly around to take pretty pictures and then wait for the next patch.

The important thing is that they have developed an insane amount of custom tools, and will be able to add and expand content much much faster now. I'm sure they still have a few tools to create, but I'm sure content will be rolling out quickly once they stop focusing mostly on SQ42 this year. I'm sure they will also generate money by leasing or selling tools later down the road.

Glad they're taking their time with this, I was hoping they would when I first heard about it in 2011 and I've heard some negative stuff, but really I dont mind if I have to wait a few more years maybe more. I mean they really need that time to succeed in their vision, let's be patient and enjoy that they are letting us in every step of the way, what dev does or has done that before!

I think carho timers should vary; as in cargo hubs will load faster in comparison to outposts; this would be most realistic in that cargo hubs would have proper equpiment and trained personell in comparision to a low manned outpost

I think it would be cool if when your arrested you get transported in cuffs to a mining facility for convicts to work off there fines in fps mining with the element to be robbed or rob other convicts in the process. Also a window for you to be broke out of jail by your comrades in the transportation stage and the multi tool with oxy acyl torch to cut off your cuffs...

Some kinda "Chop Shop" would be really cool, somewhere where you can take stolen ships in like, Delamar and claim them for yourself while the original owner has to claim insurance for it, I think this would be really cool and really drive in the stealing and insurance aspects and would make it really cool to steal a nice ship lol

I would like QT missions to be optional (until pirate or police snares) , like you get radio call of "Help me" , if you accept mission THAN you get dropped into some pirates attacking cargo hauler mission. I would love to to get stopped in Pices for fight against 3 Cutlass black -.- (again , not talking about interdiction)

I don't understand why they are actively looking to implement "downtime" , like the upcoming commodity timer, ship respawn timers, long QT travel times... It does make sense but is it all necessary.

Am I the only one who is kinda scared for the prison gameplay. Like that fact the griefers and such know the routes in no time and such. So it won't really effect them. But those who accidently make a mistake will be stuck there?

the system will function most likely to punish griefers, for they will be forced to either work with others to earn their way out or face time served solo mining to reduce their sentence. There's a lot of potential depth with the mechanics, so its not something I see you accidentally getting stuck at. there's ways to pay off your fines even now in 3.8

Griefers will calm down griefing. If you have to spend 15-40 mins constantly getting yourself out of damn prison before you can return to griefing, then you're gonna relax on ya griefing.

If you are aware of the laws you won't accidently go to prison (or very rarely at least). Awareness of what will get you sent to prison is going to be an important part of the game, which is a good thing in my book.

The FPS combat vs NPCs needs massive improvements before people who care about that aspect will buy in.. I hope they get that working.

There's not much in 3.9 so that shouldn't be a worry here. 3.9 only contains the interior for the city which is already well under way, as well as the economic stuff they showed at Citizencon, which basically just means plugging it in to make it dynamic. That and a few weapons.

SC PU isn't going to be an action packed game like COD (SQ42 may be) so if you are expecting gameplay along those lines, you will be disappointed. Truly not trying to be argumentative here, just want to point out that there are more action filled arcadey ("arcadey" is in no way meant to be taken as an insult, only different) style space games that may work better for you. In fact, if that's how the PU were going to be, I, and many others wouldn't wouldn't like it. It's not the original vision for the game.
