@@TheKnightOfSmite if the Chmmr couldn't figure something out you could probably buy something from the Melnorme. Also the Ur-Quan themselves had millennia to study Sa-Matra and may have compatible computer technologies adapted for their ships. Since they're in a surrendery frame of mind after losing the Doctrinal Conflict and having their centipedal asses saved by the New Alliance, I bet they'd cooperate. Ironically, I actually think Chmmr are the best possible leaders for an alliance that must now treat with the Kzer-Za as equals. the Ur-Quan have fond memories of the Taalo, and while the Chmmr are crystal instead of stone, dealing with them had to be familiar in a way. The original Chenjesu should have been friends of the Ur-Quan, and probably would have been before the Dyarri rec'd everything.

I fully understand why it was bad, and yes I'm fully aware that there weren't many games that had voice acting, BUT THERE STILL WERE games that had decent voice acting even at the time, like for example Snatcher. @mirrorman955 жыл бұрын
When I came to, I saw a beautiful angel hovering over me. I figured I must be dead. But, if you HAVE to die, I thought to myself... ...this was definitely the RIGHT way to be dead. That was about the time I heard Talana's voice... ...telling me to stop babbling and listen for a moment. She said the Sa-Matra had been totally destroyed ...and the remnants of the Ur-Quan and Kohr-Ah fleet were high-tailing it for the Clouds of Magellan. Then she pointed to the Sick Bay window... ...and said there was something she was sure I'd like to see... The Earth’s slave shield was gone forever. I'll never forget that day. Beautiful Talana stood at my side… ...and together we watched the first ships lift off of Earth. I'll never forget that day. Not for the rest of my life... And then what happened? Yeah, Grandpa! How did you get home? And when did you and Grandma finally get married? Oh, we intended to come right home, but... ...well, we got a little sidetracked. But Grandpa! What happened? Where did you go? And how did you find the Mark II? That, my children, is an entirely different story...

@hagamapama Жыл бұрын
@@stgibbs86 Headcanon: The Mark 2 was a little surprise that the Kzer-Za had found generations before. A Precursor light cruiser, more powerful than the Vindicator but less powerful than Sa-Matra. They intended it as a backup flagship to renew the Doctrinal Conflict after their banishment, if they lost against the Kohr-Ah and had to give them Sa-Matra. After the loss of Sa-Matra the Kzer-Za sided with the New Alliance in a desperate effort to preserve their remaining wards, now that it actually seemed potentially feasible to oppose the Eternal Doctrine again, and they broke out the ship- the Sa-Mira, Lesser Trophy, giving it to the Captain as he was the person most familiar with the Precusor technology, as a gesture of good will to secure the cooperation of the New Alliance. The Kzer-Za then threw their remaining fleet in the path of thhe Korh-Ah in a final desperate battle to give the Alliance a chance to evacuate the Zoq-Fot-Pik, who were right in the Korh-Ah's path, and take them to a new home at Organon 1. They had not known the Zoq-Fot-Pik lived there, if they had, they would have insisted on evacuating them before the fight ever began, or shielding them for their own protection and moving the battle elsewhere.. They insisted on atoning for their lack of care by fighting the delaying action that created the time to save what could be saved. After that fight, with as many Zoq-Fot-Pik Dunkirked to safety as time could allow, the shattered remnants of the Kzer-Za fleet fell into line with the New Alliance and battle was fully joined. They found it a superior experience, working with allies. They found the Human cruisers, and the Yehat and Utwig vessels, particularly useful, as they could launch their fighters from behind a shielded screen while the Cruisers provided point defense. The Human historical concept of the "carrier group" came to light, and the Kzer-Za instantly grasped its potential. Dreadnoughts now moved with 2 Cruisers or Avatars as fire support and point defense, and a Jugger or a Terminator as a forward screen. in squadron actions this combination proved very potant against the Korh-Ah and helped to even the long odds faced by the New Alliance. other races did what they could in support, except for the Druuge, who refused to work with the Kzer-Za, and the Syreen, who were too depopulated to provide much help (the Penetraotrs HAD, however, led the rescue mission to Alpha Tucanae to save the Zoq-Fot-Pik). The VUX insisted on fighting independently as they did not want to serve in fleets with Humans, but did at least coordinate their movements with the Chmmr. Surviving Ilwrath vessels tended to group with the VUX, as did the Umgah whose drones could serve to screen for the other two. This combination was deadly enough to win its own victories. The Arilou also briefly reappeared but were now viewed with suspicion and not permitted to join the battle lines as no one trusts a deserter. The Orz was also vehemently opposed to being anywhere near the Arilou. They did what they could on their own, striking alliances with the Spathi and Thraddashh to work together raiding the flanks of the Kohr-Ah, but found themselves unwelcome in Alliance space if they showed themselves openly. With the Alliance plus the Kzer-Za and surviving Battle Thalls (and the Spathi dragged out of their shielded burrow and forced to help) plus the Captain with Sa-Mira which he renamed the Vindicator MkII, the Korh-Ah were narrowly defeated. As a gesture of good will, and in gratitude for their role in turning back the Korh-Ah, the Kzer-Za were permitted to live among the new Alliance but had to give up their Talking Pets, who were destroyed en masse, if for no other reason than to prevent the Umgah from getting any ideas for funny practical jokes, and instead rely on the Chmmr for a technological interpreter service. They found they got along with the Chmmr like they once did with the Taalo and a new balance existed with the Chmmr as the nominal head of a loose confederation of sapients and a council of the 5 most powerful non-Chmmr species -- Spathi, Kzer-Za, Human, Utwig, Yehat -- helped them govern interstellar affairs.

The text is longer and well-written, the visuals more atmospheric, and come on, why would the Ur-Quan flee our galaxy, why would the Alliance let them, and how do they know where they went? In three weeks they would be barely able to leave the game map! It just doesn't make any sense. The only thing I miss from the PC version (and UQM) is the voice acting during the ending sequence.
