I like how their ship is also basically a lethal joke. You either stomp it immediately or it suddenly reverses behind you and kills half your crew.

oh huh! i didnt know they had pre-control dialogue! i just assumed that they started the game already controlled and the arilou just told you what happened as guidance these voicelines definitely feel different from the ones they have after being freed. i dont know if im just imagining it but it may be an interesting detail about how the mind control still had after-effects on them.

Yeah they do sound a little strange. And if you're curious the exact trigger is meeting the Arilou homeworld I believe.
