Now we're talking. I've been an admirer of your work for a while now, and there's just something about your eye for the design, way beyond just the modelling, but texture use, staging and lighting. It's when I look at your work on ships, they always work, I cannot say what that is, but there's an authentic, engineering belivability to them. Strangely enough, this ship had me recalling the Buck Rodgers Thunderfighter.

This product is great. I'll throw my suggestion out for a Syd Mead-aesthetic greeblepack in the future. I would also love to see how you and/or the BMS team create the textures for this pack. There's a ton of detail in the them that do a lot of the heavy lifting of how good these look in your cinematics.

Greebles / Nurnies are the SciFi artist's go-to tools for creating objects that look complex and futuristic! Adam Savage has a channel here on YT showing how he worked his magic (worked at ILM back in the day) creating Star Wars and other scifi spaceships and scenes using modeling kits and other practical tools to get the job done - Adam would LOVE this set of greebles if he were a 3D artist (not sure if he's done any 3D modeling in his career.)

Also noticing you've got a card with 24gb vram. Must be nice 😂 I've tried to stage some scenes with this kit but it can run out even on a 16gb vram card. What's the hardware you guys are testing these kits on?
@technouveau_art Жыл бұрын
I built this kit on an old machine with 12gb vram. The trimsheet version is super light. The baked ones are more memory intensive because each object has its own texture. The trimsheet version shares a few

great job and beautiful pack. Did you model it actual size? As the finished render still looks like a toy model in a way. Whats the length of the ship in ft/mts ?
@technouveau_art Жыл бұрын
No. The render probably looks like that because I added a bit of spherical distortion, making it look like it's filmed with a low DOF, similar to shooting models. It's not really intentional.

This may be a dumb question, but how did you change the color scheme for that cockpit from the standard to the alternate pattern? When I go into the UV editor, I'm only coming up with that standard image with greys and yellows and can't get that blue. (I'm also totally lost looking at that link chart, but that's my noobness shining through.
