Shat's father Joseph passed away during this episode. All those scenes with him shot from the back are a double. The man refused to stop production and insisted on finishing the day. I don't know the entire filming sequence, but that shot in the cave where he's briefing the Enterprise security force was shot after he got the news. Dee and Leonard knew, but the actors in the scene didn't and everyone was astonished at Shatners dedication to professionalism. Respect. I couldn't have done it.

How is it that I never saw deleted scenes like this at the Star Trek conventions I attended in the 1970s? Instead I saw the blooper reel ad nauseum.
@HALJallikakic2 күн бұрын
I WAS AT ONE SCIENCE FICTION CONVENTION THAT WILLIAM SHATNER MADE THIS LONG SPEECH MY MOM SAID IT LOOKED LIKE HE MEMORISED IT AND AS AN ACTRESS SHE SAID SHE WAS IMPRESSED. I LIKED GETTING TO WATCH DOOMSDAY MACHINE ON A GIANT SCREEN ONCE HE FINISHED. YEAH IT WASNT SO MUCH A STAR TREK CONVENTIION BECAUSE PEOPLE DRESSED AS SANDMEN FROM LOGANS RUN AND STAR WARS CHARACTERS BUT NOTHING ELSE NOT THAT MANY PEOPLE WEARING STAR TREK CLOTHES

That's a good question. Perhaps a copyright issue. Perhaps shrug of indifference by the powers that were. Perhaps like artists who create sketches of painting first, they were never meant to be seen.

Correct ! I'm not sure, but I think the Vorta are alien creatures from "Deep Space Nine".

Sounds like Shatner keeps saying "Latitudes" vs Lava tubes
@dailyqwikbytesКүн бұрын
That's because Shat is a French speaking Canadian and every once in a while it slips out with an "odd" pronunciation. In another episode, can't remember which at the moment, you can hear it when he says "sabotage".
@StrangeLoop-en5mzКүн бұрын
@@dailyqwikbytes I never knew it was because of french pronunciation. You're absolutely right lol. It tracks for Lave and Sabotage. And it's Wink of an Eye.

@@StrangeLoop-en5mz Thanks for the reminder! LLAP.
@johnmarx3919Күн бұрын
@@StrangeLoop-en5mz, it also tracks with the way he pronounced the word "somber" in a Piece of the Action - although Nimoy in his next line pronounced the word in the American manner...

Why is it that all these deleted scenes (from all movies and franchises) as far as " image quality" always look like crap?
@scotpens11 сағат бұрын
They've been copied multiple generations, probably from work prints or dupe negatives, and were never meant to be seen by the public. Actually, most of these Star Trek outtakes and deleted scenes look pretty good.
